Hello Denyse,

I agree with you that a systematic literature review helps appraise all research studies and well
synthesize their findings, focusing on a specific topic of study. A systematic review is always
guided by the research question of the topic hence making the researcher able to identify the
scope of the various studies to be analyzed (Negarandeh & Beykmirza, 2020). Systematic
reviews help provide evidence of the need for various researches in various nursing fields. I
found several systematic reviews based on your topic. For instance, a study by Oori et al. (2019)
investigated the prevalence of medication adherence in patients with hypertension in Iran.
Studies were extracted from 8 databases for the period ranging from 2000 to 2018Althiugh at the
initial stages 317 studies were identified; only 17 were used in the final analysis. The study
found the overall medical adherence in Iran to below. I believe that such studies are essential in
nursing since they help in identifying areas that require great focus. Thank you for sharing!

Hello Holly,
I enjoyed reading through your informative post! As nurses, it is important that we understand
systematic reviews since they help us in our practice for effective care delivery. There are broad
topics in nursing that require intensive research hence the importance of performing systematic
reviews to get a glance at what has been done before. Systematic reviews are relatively cheaper
as compared to embarking on a new study (Polit & Beck, 2018). However, systematic reviews of
ion observational studies are lower in the evidence-based hierarchy. I agree with you that meta-
analysis is a type of systematic review that makes a combination of the findings and the analysis
of different studies associated with the topic of interest (Vrabel, 2015). I believe that systematic
reviews are essential in nursing since they help us identify the areas that require more
concentration after analyzing the findings of the previous studies. Thank you for sharing!
