ANALYSYS SELECTION PROCESS, BY ADRIANA GUERRERO.

According to Harold, K. (1990), Selection is the process of determining among the applicants,
who is the person who meets all the requirements to fill any vacant position.
This analysis involves Bank of Canada, and I will determine whether or not they have an
analytical selection process, regarding the position of Web Content Designer.
After familiarizing myself with the requirements to occupy this position and its selection process,
I can conclude that it is an eminently analytical and scientific process, following a structured
method.
The above is based on the following:
- According to this system of the Bank of Canada, the recruiter from the first moment will have
knowledge about the background of the applicant, which will be guaranteed by the academic
preparation and previous accredited experience. A cover letter is also requested to confirm the
competencies that the applicant claims to have. (Knowledge and skills)
- The process continues with two interviews, one of which lasts 1 hour, and is carried out by the
evaluation committee, within these are the technical evaluations. (ASSESSMENT
PROCEDURE)
- Likewise, within the process, language evaluations are carried out to corroborate the verbal and
written communication skills of the applicant.
From these facts I can say that this company requires applicants to have a relevant KSAOS.

Finally, if the candidate reaches the end of the process, he must provide 2 letters of
recommendation and start the security verification process with a hiring manager. (standardized
process)

The Bank of Canada's selection system is, in my opinion, reliable, valid and fair. It is reliable and
valid because it has a verification and reporting system, assessments and interviews are
conducted by a personal expert, and as mentioned above, letters of recommendation and
background checks are required. However, in these two points I see two weaknesses, first, on the
page that talks about the selection system, they suggest questions for which the applicant must be
prepared in the interviews, as well as the recommendation to review the STAR method, in order
to respond adequately , (REMEMBER THAT "CHANCE" IS ONE OF THE EXAMPLES OF
FACTORS THAT MAY AFFECT RELIABILITY).
Finally, in terms of the fairness of the system, in my opinion it is a bit complex, beforehand they
announce a preference for Canadians or migrants with permanent residence, however this may be
due to an exclusively legal issue. I cannot omit the special emphasis made on the question of
language. It is something very complex because it could lead to bias. High levels of English and
in some cases French are required, as well as the presentation of academic tests, however,

Bank of Canada offers language training to those who fail to verify the required language
standards within the selection process. It is well known that Canada being a multicultural
country, language skills are not always balanced among all applicants so this helps a bit. (area of
special care because it can also compromise the issue of validity given the subjectivity of this
type of test)
