The oil used for the drive unit is supplied from the transmission case. As the engine starts, the charging pump picks up oil from the transmission case through the suction filter and sends it through the inline filter to the control valve. The control valve divides the oil in to two flows with the regulator spool: one for clutch operation and one for torque converter operation
