✓ The PPP Center issued the first edition of the Guide for Developing Solicited Health
PPP Projects, which aims to help implementing agencies in developing health
infrastructure projects using the solicited PPP scheme under the BOT law.

E-learning modules for PPPs

✓ The PPP Center is expanding its suite of capacity building services through the
launch of its e-learning modules.
✓ The five-module platform is designed for self-paced learning where short animated
videos and document references replace the traditional lecture arrangement.
Assessments are implemented at the end of each module to ensure learning has
taken place.

Current Status of Lazareto de Mariveles Ruins

• The structure is in ruins despite the

mandated rehabilitation efforts under
the Philippine Rehabilitation Act of
1946
• The structural elements, walls, slabs
and beams are deteriorated showing
signs of cracking, corrosion, bending
and deflections.
• The basement and the second floor are
inaccessible.
• The original building appears to be a 2-
storey structure of reinforced concrete
construction reflective of the
American Colonial Period of the early
20th Century
• The Neo-classical architectural style
which is evident in the ruins, is also
similar to that found in the other
historical buildings of the 20th Century,
• The condition of the ruins also exhibit
what is most likely damage that
occurred during:
• World War II
• Battle for, and Fall of Bataan and
Corregidor in 1941
• The infamous Death March The Lazareto de Mariveles was established by the Spanish government in the 1850s as the first quarantine
station in the country.

Demand: Willingness to Avail Wellness Services

FGD RESULTS: Main Themes

• Nutrition consultation not as widely offered in the area. Good to have especially assessment and
ADAPTABILITY meal planning.
• Massage therapy collectively seen as a need for relaxation.

• Chiropractic is seen by some as dangerous and were not willing to try.

• Herbal enjoys popularity among residents and is already commonly used by families.
ACCEPTABILITY • Exercise, particularly Zumba, enjoys popularity among respondents as a social activity and for
fitness.

• Yoga and other exercises are already being done at MMWGH.

PRACTICALITY • Families are surrounded by space where communities could grow herbal/plants for medicine (ex.
lagundi, serpentina, garlic, onion)

• High demand: massage therapy, and acupuncture for those who are curious to try.
• Mixed demand: yoga and meditation wherein some believe it would require supervision, while
DEMAND others would rather do it by themselves using online videos.
• Low: health cooking and baking classes are seen as something they can learn through the internet

• Cost must be adjusted according to how much target market can afford
INTEGRATION • Wellness center hours ideally to be extended to accommodate more people coming from work.
Please note that this is still subject to finalization and government approvals. The bidders are still expected to conduct their own due diligence.

cost.
• “Kung may programa na hindi mapapagastos, yun nalang muna”
• To those coming from Balanga, some are not willing to travel regularly.
Geographic • Account for time lost and transportation cost.
