RE: REQUEST FOR A WRITTEN EXPLANATION OF ACCUSATION AND ITS GROUNDS
===============================================================

Dear Dean Delos Reyes,

I, DALE ASI-KALIXTER D. CALUB, a third year medical student from

SECTION A, am humbly writing this letter to clarify my good name against the
accusations to me last October 22, 2021, during the midterm examination for
MEDICINE 3A from 11:00AM to 1:30PM, on the grounds of cheating. Through this
letter, I am asking for your leniency and guidedance, because:

1) The accusations made against me taints my good reputation, integrity,

and diligence to the extent that it would gravely reflect to me as a professional
in the present and in the future;

2) I am passionate, hard-working, and have integrity to what I do in my

studies as a medical student. I hope that I be given the opportunity to explain
my side and show you my innocence;

3) For my religious compliance to the rules provided, specifically on Student

Guidelines for Zoom Proctoring under the Phone Setup bullet number 3,
which states:

“The phone should be perpendicular to your table. It should be

positioned at the 3 or 9 o’clock position”

4) My phone is perpendicular to my table and it is positioned at the 3 o’clock

position;

5) Upon doing that, I complied to guideline number 4, which provides:

“Ensure that the laptop/tablet screen, keyboard, and examinee can

be seen within the frame”
7) My laptop screen, my keyboard and myself can be seen on the camera and
the frame, which shows my compliance to this rule;

8) From all this, and my faithful compliance to the rules, I admit that I
faulted because I tilted my screen to an angle in order for me to easily facilitate
my view of my laptop. I did not know, or in anyway intend, that it be
construed as cheating or even an attempt to it;

9) After doing so, I was instructed by the IT head to go to the breakout room.
In that point, they have all the opportunity to examine my situation, in one
instance, they asked me to show all of my pending tabs or the applications
open by pressing “Command + Tab” which I complied. Attached is “Annex
A” a copy of the applications opened during that time. They saw:

a) Safari browser (left)— which contained my moodle examination;

b) Brave browser (middle)— which contained pornography; and
b) Finder (right)— which contained nothing.

10) During their assessment, aside from what I said above, they saw nothing
which could flag any instance that I am cheating. To prove further my
innocence attached is “Annex B” a copy of my Safari web browser history
which will show what sites I have been to, during the examination;

11) Also, they asked me to open the Brave browser which I complied with a
warning that it contains porn, and they saw it;

12) After this, all the vague accusations began. They showed me a video
which accuses me of unwarranted behavior that led to the present controversy
which I specifically deny;

13) I am innocent, I have integrity, I am ready to face all charges, as long as I

am provided with a written explanation by exactly and clearly pointing how I
wronged;

14) I am saddened to the bottom of my heart, on how can I be accused of such

actions. I pride myself to what I do, what I believe, and what I stand. I hope
such courtesy be given to me most especially during this trying times when
understanding is most warranted.

FROM THE FOREGOING, I pray that I be provided a written explanation how I

wronged; that my name be cleared from all the accusations; and all reliefs relative
thereto be afforded, as just and equitable. From all these I remain,
Very truly yours,

Dale Asi-Kalixter D. Calub
