BALANCING TANK IN SWIMMING POOL

General info about swimming pool

 Trench to counter for over flow water and move it to Balancing tank
 Main drains
 Infinity drain to pump section
 Inflow line
 Vacuum pipe which is always closed and opened only for full cleaning of
pool by connecting a hose pipe.

Pump room

 From balancing tank overflow water enters the main header line which
are connected to filtration pump
 Automatic dosing system maintain PH and chlorine level of pool

Operation

 Main drain valve is open i.e. 30% (depending upon requirement)

 Infinity valve is 20% open
 Vacuum valve is 100% closed

Normal cleaning operation

 From suction line water enters from which main water flow enters from
tank section and 20 to 30% main drain and 10% from infinity drain.
 Vibration absorbers flexible joint
 NRV
 Gate valves

Balancing water ( operation)

 Water flows through the scum channel and strainer basket ( Gratings)
 Grating filters the debris
 Water flows into the balancing tank
 Water level will rise in the balancing tank and hit the sensor alarm
 It will cause the overflow pipe to suck in the water and rise upto optimal
level
 A balance tank is used in pools that do not use skimmer boxes. Its primary
use is for the storage of excess water generated from the displacement of
swimmers’ bodies. A pool with a balance tank maintains a constant depth
regardless there are how many people in the pool.
 A general rule of thumb is to take 10% of the total volume of pool as the
volume of our balance tank.

Make-up Water Tank

 Make-up tank is required for a pool to make-up water loss from

evaporation and drifting. It depends on the number of storage days, flow
rate of pool and rate of water loss. We can take the rate of water loss to be
around 2 – 5%, with higher make-up required for higher rate of water loss.

 When we are using overflow system we do not use skimmers
