It’s Hard to be Good

Doing the right things “socially “at a right time will help business exponentially in longer run from
commercial side & from society perspective. The survival & the growth of a company is the same as its
social responsibility.

1- Community Engagement (ROYAL DSM)

In past they were producing petrochemicals & Plastic manufactures to serve the community
company moved to pharmaceutical/Efficient building material & sustainable tech to give them
away in community. Also work on some corporate strategies like

- Partnership with global organizations


- Made hiring attractive by giving handsome salaries
- Low turnover
- Helps to innovate with the help of community

Company encourages their employee to pitch their innovative ideas but they should be aligned with
company expertise/strategies.

2- Labor Relations (S-Airlines)

Company give BBQ party after hiring new employees to give them warm welcome & make staff
happy by giving them souvenir. Employee first strategy include
- Interaction between management & Labor
- Good relation with organized labor

Cultural committee plan activities for employees. Company reinforce employees to indulge
themselves in union. Committed employees enable them to turn around plans quickly thus
generating profits even when employer are declared bankruptcy.

3- Environmental Protection (Broad Group)

If company offers something of social values, you will survive & prosper. Continuing pushing
forward with ideas & products to fix environmental problems by connecting to existing business
has grown their stock.

4- Corporate Governance (Potash Corporation)

Maximizing long term shareholders value should be top key goals followed by
customers/community & employees. Core value & code of conduct now include shareholders
friendly initiatives.
In return company gain his reputation by taking care of shareholders value & stock value increase
exponentially.

5- Supply Chain Accountability (Unilever)

Priority to conquer the world. Unilever move to sustainable supply of raw material. They did this
by directly involvement in factories to reduce the wastage. And indirectly by giving the consumer
education of sustainability. And to use towards the recycle one for the betterment of future
generation.
In direct involvement with factories producers were accountable of waste disposal & to move the
green energy also adding values by giving services to Government & NGO’s. And their moto was
to investment in today will give output in future.
