How the Material I Have Selected Shaped my Thinking on my Topic

The three pieces that I used for my topic “The History of Social Media” are an article by

Benjamin Hale, a video by ‘shout out digital’ and a picture of a timeline of social media.

The article was informative. It showed how social media has evolved from the year 1997 when

Six Degrees was agreeably a social media site; to the present day when we use Instagram and

Snapchat. It also showed how certain social media sites such as Facebook has become popular

over its 14 years of existence.

The video by ‘Shout out Digital’ highlighted how Facebook has evolved since its appearance in

2004 and is currently the most popular social media site in the world.

The picture is a timeline depicting how all social media sites evolved from 1978 to 2018. The

timeline showed how social media evolved, and rebooted and even bought over by companies.
