“The Importance of Governance & Development

and it’s inter-relationship”.

(Written Report)

Introduction

The challenge for society is to build governance

systems that encourage and support human

development, especially for the poorest and most

marginalized. That said, the quest for a clear

concept of governance is just beginning.

Governance is about the more strategic aspects of

steering to make broader decisions about both

course and position. Sustainable human

development means protecting and sustaining the

life potential of future generations and the natural

systems on which all life depends. The central goal

of development is to create an environment in which

everyone can enjoy a long, healthy and creative life

for the future and the present. The report recognizes

the interrelationships between governance and

development, as well as their importance to society,

governments and others.

Governance

To govern means to exercise power and authority

over the country, structure, or entity governed. This

concerns both government and governance. State

rule and control, but governance is the act of

governing and managing. These comparisons may

seem exaggerated, but we'll flesh them out and put

them into perspective as the discussion progresses.

Though the government may have the impression

that it is only interested in preserving peace and

order, governance implies leadership towards social

progress. Government is an act of leadership, an

effort to push society in the preferred direction.

Governance is a concept in which the elements in

society exert power and authority and control and

enforce policies and decisions relating to public life,

economic and social progress. It prefers

management over control because its system is

permeable, it acknowledges external factors, and it

claims no omnipotence. Decisions are subject to the

assessment and criticism of all those involved.

Good governance is described as participatory,

transparent, accountable, effective, equitable, and

supportive of the rule of law. Good governance is

essential because people rely on the government,

and if we do not have good governance, our country

would be chaotic and disorderly.

Sustainability Human Development

Human development extends the choices or

options available to all individuals in society. This

means putting people at the center of the

development process, particularly the poor and

vulnerable people, as stated in UNDP (1996). It also

means safeguarding the life prospects of future

generations and the natural systems on which all life

depends. The main goal of development is to create

an environment in which everyone can experience a

long, stable, and creative life.

The ultimate aim of sustainable development is to

meet today's needs without undermining the

possibilities for future generations to meet their own

needs. This means that we should not continue to

use current resource levels, since this will not leave

available resources for future generations. For

example, when ranked by per capita income,

countries that do well in the per capita income

ranking also tend to do poorly in the Human

Development Index ranking. Moreover, there are

pronounced differences within countries, rich and

poor alike, and these are striking when human

development between indigenous peoples and

ethnic minorities is measured separately.

Conclusion
The United Nations Development Program believes

that the primary means of reducing or eliminating

poverty is the development of good governance

skills. Perspectives on the link between governance

and sustainable human development vary greatly.

Sustainability Human Development promotes an

increased quality of life and further choices for

people, particularly for vulnerable and

disadvantaged groups. Good governance creates a

healthy future for an organization by continuously

steering the organization toward its vision and

making sure that day-to-day management is always

lined up with the organization's goals. Government,

at its core, is about leadership, as stated by Güney

(2016). Sustainable development suggests that the

current use of resources must be reduced to a level

that will cause a minimum amount of harm to future

use of resources. Governance is capable of sensible

and adaptable preparation required for sustainable

growth. Both concepts provide right decisions

concerning public life, economic and social

development to meet their needs without

compromising the ability of future generations to

meet their own needs.
