Deploy HSPA+ 64QAM 21Mbps & HSUPA

5.74Mbps
1. Objective
Provide a guide to deploy HSPA+ 64QAM 21Mbps & HSUPA 5.74Mbps.

2. Software Version
RNC: BSC6900 UMTS V900R013ENGC00SPH552
NodeB: WCDMA V200R013C00SPC339

3. Requirements for HSPA+ 21Mbps & HSUPA 5.74Mbps

Capability
3..1 Core Network Requirement
SGSN/GGSN/HLR need to support 3GPP Rel.7 and downlink maximum bit rate of 21Mbps
and upink max bit rate 5.74Mbps.

3..2 NodeB and RNC Hardware

No change to existing hardware

3..3 NodeB and RNC Software

Prerequisite: Minimum RAN11.0, 15 codes per cell is configured, HSDPA 14Mbps enabled.
HSUPA 5.74Mbps enabled.
Additional software features:

             HSPA+ 21Mbps (RNC License):

HSPA+ Downlink 21Mbps per User

Downlink Enhanced L2

96 HSDPA Users per Cell

HSUPA 5.74 (RNC License):

HSUPA 5.74Mbps per User

60 HSUPA Users per Cell

HSUPA 2ms/10ms TTI handover

2
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

SRB over HSUPA

NodeB License:

the number of NodeBs with HSUPA function enabled

the number of NodeBs with HSUPA 2ms TTI function enabled

the number of cells with DL 64QAM function enabled

3..4 Iub Transmission

IP over FE transmission is recommended
Recommended minimum Iub bandwidth per site = 25Mbps

(assume single user can achieve peak rate of 21Mbps in one of the cells at one time, actual
bandwidth may vary based on capacity and capability requirement)

3..5 UE Requirement
3GPP release 7 and above, CAT 14,18,20,24 or 28

4. Deployment procedure
4..1 RNC license
The following license features should be activated:
HSPA+ 21Mbps
-HSPA + Downlink 21 Mbit/s Per User=ON
-Downlink Enhanced L2=ON
-96 HSDPA Users per Cell=ON

HSUPA 5.74Mbps
-HSUPA 5.74Mbps per User=ON
-60 HSUPA Users per Cell=ON
-HSUPA 2ms/10ms TTI handover=ON
-SRB over HSUPA=ON

4..2 NodeB license per site

Allocate NodeB license to every site:
-64QAM Cell Num
-HSUPATTI

4..3 RNC & NodeB Reconfiguration

i) Before execution

-Export current RNC & NodeB License

-EXP CFGMML
-BKP DB

ii) Modify the version of the NodeB/CN as the R9/R8 (the 3GPP R7 or above supports
the 64QAM technology, the RAN 13 corresponds to the R9 version, the R9 version is
recommended for the NodeB, and the R8 version is recommended for the CN).

MOD UCNNODE: CnOpIndex=0, CNId=0, CNDomainId=PS_DOMAIN,

CNProtclVer=R7;

**R7 & R8 are feasible.

iii) Every HSPA+ site recommend R9 for RAN13 version.

MOD UNODEB: NodeBId=xxx, NodeBProtclVer=R9;

**R7 and R8 are feasible also.

iv) Others parameters setting:
