BACKGROUND

Petroliam Nasional Berhad, commonly known as Petronas, is a Malaysian oil


and gas company. Founded in 1974 and wholly owned by the Malaysian
government, the company owns all the oil and gas resources in Malaysia and
is entrusted with the development and appreciation of these resources.
Petronas ranks among the world's largest companies in the Fortune Global
500. In the 2017 Forbes Global 2000, Petronas gas was rated as the 1881st
largest listed company in the world. [8] Petronas also ranked 48th in the
Bentley infrastructure 500 in 2020.
Since its establishment, Petronas has developed into a comprehensive
international oil and gas company with operations in 35 countries / regions. As
of March 2005, the group has 103 wholly-owned subsidiaries, 19 joint-stock
companies and 57 associated companies. The financial times listed Petronas
as one of the "New Seven Sisters": [10] the most influential and mainly state-
owned oil and gas companies outside the organization for economic
cooperation and development.
The group is engaged in a wide range of oil activities, including upstream oil
and gas exploration and production to downstream oil refining; Marketing and
distribution of petroleum products; Trade; Gas treatment and liquefaction;
Operation of gas transmission pipeline network; Sales of LNG; Petrochemical
production and sales; Shipping; Automotive engineering; And real estate
investment.
Petronas provides a considerable source of revenue for the Malaysian
government, accounting for more than 15% of government revenue in 2015-
2020.

GROWTH STRATEGIES
Petronas will continue to adhere to the three pronged growth strategy, that is,
focus on cash flow, expand core business, find ways to expand business
value chain, and study new industries, such as renewable energy such as
solar energy.
Petronas will continue to focus on reshaping our portfolio, reorganizing our
human capital equation and centralizing execution to manage an
unpredictable business environment.
