What is Community of Inquiry ?

Issues and Challenges collaborating in COIs

The advantages in COIs

Members are brought together to appreciate the

value of learning together and help to improve
connections and collaboration for a meaningful
Collaboration learning experience.
For example, some of members respond to my
question regarding vocabulary quiz on seasons. We
also discuss what instructional strategies should we
include in order to build our OER.

The experience itself is often a learning opportunity.

There’s also the actual content of the discussions,
Learning conversations and exchanges ideas.

higher-order learning is best supported in a
community of learners who are engaged in building

How to enhance a Community of Inquiry?

Problem-based prompts typically focus on a problem that is related to the content area and ask
members to discuss and work together to formulate solutions.
I found that through long discussion, which asked to clarify what OER should develop the most
resolution. These tasks require that members rely on work together in order to solve the problem.

Questioning is often considered a best facilitation practice in the literature.

I found that the condition in which leader asked questions in relation to members proposed
solutions to a given problem generated all phases of cognitive presence and the most resolution
when compared to other strategies. In addition, the questions were specific to the unique
responses from the members.

Assign a peer facilitator. Concerning social presence, members may be more comfortable to
participate in the discussion when it is led by an equal member of the class, rather than the
leader who is perceived as the authority. Certain techniques are perceived differently when
implemented by a peer. For example, our members from China more comfortable using WeChat
to discuss, and this lead to peer facilitation.

Process of Developing my part in OER.

Discuss on type of activities that will help teachers to use in class and clearly explain how the
resources will help teachers to obtain the learning objectives. In order to foster interaction, a
wide range of online tools and social technologies were utilized.

1.Include simple activities to make students enjoy their learning.

2.Use formative assessments such as, quizzes, discussion posts, video clips, and provide
ample opportunity for feedback.
