I AM CHOSEN TO SERVE

This song is very meaningful for me because it expresses

our desire to make Christ as the most important aspect of
our lives. “You alone are my heart’s desire and I long to
worship thee”, our desire for Christ is being symbolized by
the deer who pants for water and our soul is longing for
Christ and this desire can be fulfill by showing our worship
to him. It is related to the 3 dimensions of faith because
we keep on believing. We as humans hold on to our
beliefs – those that we learned from the bible including the
seven sacraments and all the teachings of Christ. It is
essential for us to know what we believe especially in this
modern society wherein lot of tensions and temptations
exist. It simply shows that we recognize Jesus Christ and
His teachings that He is the source of our strength and
shield and he can satisfy the longing in our heart. It helps
us to deepen our knowledge and understanding of Him
and His teachings to mankind. It is completely believing
and trusting God and all of His plans for us. After we
learned all the things that leads to our belief, we focus on
the act of doing and which is to obey God’s will for us.
Faith is not only knowing but it also means doing our
mission which is to serve God and our neighbors. It refers
to our actions that we uphold in our faith. It is the
distinction between right and wrong of what should be
done and what should not be done. Lastly, faith lives and
grows through prayer and worship. It is our obligation as
humans to worship God and give to Him all the honor,
praise, adoration and respect because He is the only one
who can satisfy our heart’s desire. Therefore, we should
love Him, as the Lord our God, more than anything.

Ever since I was young, I’ve always been fascinated in

watching shows or movies related to doctors. I’m amazed
on how they help people, on how they can save lives, on
how the future of those sick people depends on the
doctor’s hand. And since then I told myself, I want to be a
doctor, that is my dream profession. I have been dreaming
of saving other people’s lives. I want to be a pediatrician
specifically. I want to help cure those kids who are sick
and in pain. By being a doctor, I can fulfill my mission to
be a good servant of Christ, by helping those people who
need my service. Being a doctor takes a lot of courage,
dedication and motivation. In order for me to achieve my
vocation, I need to focus with my studies for now simply
because I need to get good grades, I need to study hard to
be able to finish my school. Those teachings from school
can guide me properly on how to fulfill my mission of being
an excellent doctor someday, on how to be successful in
my vocation of helping those who are in need in the same
way that I am obeying my mission to Christ in promoting
life.
Before I end this speech, I would like to share with you my
life verse, Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the LORD with all
your heart, and do not lean on your own
understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and
He will make straight your paths.” In this world filled
with temptations, trials and hardships, sometimes we
tend to just easily give up whenever we are facing
difficulties in our life. Just like this pandemic that we
are still facing for almost three years now. Some of us
do ask God why are we all experiencing this situation?
We tend to just get mad, blame other people because
of the situation. But instead of focusing on the
negative thoughts, we should strengthen our faith in
God. We should trust HIM that everything happens for
a reason, that all these trials that we are facing will
keep us stronger and braver. We will be facing lot of
problems everyday, it all depends on how we hold on
to our faith. Let’s be more focus and dwell on the
positive thoughts rather than being negative. Do not be
discourage easily by obstacles, it’s just God’s way of
testing our faith. If we trust Him completely, everything
will turn positive according to His plans for us.
