System messages are displayed on the screen and printed out on the event printer connected to
the controller.
Types of messages
There are three categories of system messages:
• Alarm Messages
Alarm messages are generated when conditions are detected that critically effect the
capability or performance of the system (such as a system fault or a defined alarm
limit exceeded).
Alarm messages are accompanied by an audible alarm and by the relevant lamp
flashing in the Alarms button group. These audible and visual alarms continue until
you acknowledge the message.
You must critically examine all alarm messages to determine their cause and effect.
• Warning Messages
Warning messages inform you of the occurrence of conditions in the system that, if
ignored, could result in unwanted system response or eventual failure (such as

• Information Messages
Information messages inform you of conditions that are noteworthy, but that have no
serious effect on the performance of the system. There are no audible or visual alarms
associated with Information messages.
If the system tests do not report the same message within a timeout period (usually 20
seconds), the message becomes inactive:
View button will bring forward the alarm window. This window contains a list of all current
messages.
Ack button will acknowledge the alarms. An asterisk indicates that a message is not
acknowledged
