CSS GRADE 11
QUARTER 1, WEEK 8
I. Learning Competency
Objectives:
• Discuss the drivers installation procedure;
• Carry out installation using portable bootable device; and
• Recognize the use of software user guide and the software license
agreement.
Installation
It refers to the configuration of a software or hardware with a view to making
it usable with the computer. A soft or digital copy of the piece of software (program)
is needed to install it. There are different processes of installing a piece of software
(program). Because the process varies for each program and each computer,
programs (including operating systems) often come with an installer, a specialized
program responsible for doing whatever is needed for the installation.
Boot Disk
It is a removable digital data storage medium from which a computer can
load and run (boot) an operating system or utility program. The computer must
have a built-in program which will load and execute a program from a boot disk
meeting certain standard.
Bootable USB Flash Drive - is an external hard drive that can be used to boot a
Desktop computer or a laptop.
PROCEDURE:
PROCEDURE:
6. You can choose “Search automatically for updated driver software” or “Browse
my computer for driver software” and then, provide the path to the driver software
that you have previously downloaded.
When you provide the path, Windows will load and initialize the drivers
immediately. There is no need to restart the system. You are already finished!
Note: Before you conduct the updating of the driver software, make
sure to read and understand the terms and conditions in accordance
with the software utilization guide and End-User License Agreement

Directions: Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if it is
incorrect. Write your answers on the provided answer sheet. (10pts)
1. Device drivers should be updated when you have reinstalled the
operating system using either CD, DVD, or a USB drive or when you are
facing any issues like Wi-Fi or other network issues, video (GPU) issues,
or audio (sound) issues.
2. Downloading and installing device drivers or software from unknown
sources may work correctly, may not cause your PC to crash or boot
into the operating system.
3. When you need to install a device driver completely, it is recommended
to use the device's uninstaller program.
4. Updating device drivers is also a great troubleshooting step when the
device is not functioning properly or generating an error, like a Device
Manager error code.
5. Some hardware devices may be listed as an "Unknown Device" in
Windows
Device Manager if the device driver is not available or installed on the PC.
6. A blue exclamation mark in Device Manager indicates that Windows has
detected a problem with the device.
7. Most device manager errors can be resolved by uninstalling and/or
installing the latest device driver.
8. A yellow X next to a device in Windows Device Manager indicates that the
device is either disabled or Microsoft Windows is unable to communicate
with the device due to a corrupt or deleted device driver file.
9. Get email notifications when there are new or updated device drivers for
a certain brand of the product that you are interested in through Support
Notifications.
10.You can use the download manager to create an exact copy of your
device driver files, called an ISO image. The ISO image can be used to
create a CD or DVD or external USB drive that will contain all the
downloaded device driver installation files.
