Critical Analysis of an Investigative Article

I. Purposes
 
to. The critical analysis of an article is intended to exercise critical
reasoning skills in the nursing student.
 
B. The student will extract, analyze and interpret the content of an article
 
C. study and examine its elements; identify and discuss their properties
and express judgments and opinions about them.
 
II. Format
 
A. Introduction
 
1. Write the bibliography of thearticle following the selected style
format (APA)
 
2. Briefly explain the reason or reasons you had for choosing the
topic

B. Brief critical summary of the article. Giving importance to the


following questions:
 
1. What is the author's main argument?
2. What other points does the article propose?
3. What evidence (data, facts, studies...) does the author present
to support his argument and how reliable is it?
 

C. Student criticism. You must present your position, taking into


consideration the following:
 
1. Do you agree with the author's conclusions? Explain your
answer whether positive or negative.
 
2. Are the author's recommendations, if any, appropriate?
 
3. Whatimplications, if any, have the author's findings or
recommendations for the class or for
you in particular?
