However, consider the following instructions: = Avoid any intensive vibration and shocks. = Lift the case (vehicle loading and unloading) as indicated in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, being the case always in the vertical position. = The transporting vehicle must be filted with a completely horizontal and sufficiently strong wooden floor. = It must be avoided using hooks or rings for fixation situated in the upper part of the vehicle, which are not fixed approprictely. The transformer fixation must be preferably made by resistant rope to avoid any damage to the equipment. = To deiermine the number of transformers that can be carried on a vehicle, it must be considered the dimensions, weight and number of pieces indicated in Fig. 4, as well as the maximum ellowed load of the vehicle. ~ During transport, fastening must always be verified and, if necessary, the rope must be tightened again. According to our experience, this revision must be made after the first 20 km and each 100 km then after. = NEVER transport the Current Transformer without the suitable (original or similor) case. Check if the Current Transformer is well fixed to the pallet with its head properly wedged in the case. RECEIP Whether the shipment of the goods has been arranged by the purchaser or by BALTEAU, the following points should be observed at the arrival of the equipment: Visible packing or goods dama: 2.2.2. 4.1, v GEC ALSTHOM TaD A) Ifthe cases or the equipment itself show traces of blows, denis, breakages, fears, leaks, etc... the person or department receiving the equipment must make written reservations on the transport documents covering the goods. 8B) If during the unpacking of the equipment, damage is found to have occurred, the unpacking should be stopped and the damage assessor or Insurance Company representative, whose name and address appear on the Certificate of Insurance covering the shipment of the goods, must be called immediately. This expert will draw up a certified report of the damage and will hand the "Survey Report" fo the Policy-Holder mentioned on the Certificate of Insurance. This latter one will pass the damage detailing file fo the Insurance Company. not apparent fro! L i If the cases show no signs of blows, dents, breakages, tears, leaks, etc... but damage is noticed to have occurred , unpacking must be stopped immediately and the damage surveyor must be called as described in paragraph 2.2.1. item b. STORAGE The equipmenis must be stored preferably in their original cases, indoors and in the vertical position. Outdoor storage is allowed during two months only. If it is necessary to extend storage during a period higher than two months, it must be made indoors and in ‘an aerated and dry place. MOUNTING ON THE STRUCTURE Cautis t be tak: ing unpacking and manipulation of the tray rs. = During unpacking, open at least iwo sides of the case (lop and one side) in order fo enable the iransformer to be taken out easily. NEVER LIFT THE TRANSFORMER BY THE PRIMARY TERMINALS. The procedure indicated in Fig. 1 must be respected. 3 oO 4.2, 5.1. 5.2. 5.2.1. y GEC ALSTHOM T&D = The Transformer hanging or hoisting manipulation is carried out by means of a bridge crane or an appropriate crane, as indicated in Fig. 1 (for the transformer only) or in Fig. 2 (for the packed transformer), with support of two steel cables or ropes with four hooks. The wooden cross piece is placed between the hanging cables, on the transformer cover, in order to make sure that these do not fouch the porcelain and damage the aluminum top cover. Avery useful precaution is fo bind the transformer with a rope which also binds the hoisting cables, as indicated in Fig. 1 The transformers are designed for transport and mounting in vertical position. EIXATION ON THE STRUCTURE - Vertical position. = It is very important that the surface on which the transformer is placed is absolutely flat and horizontal. - Fix 3 (three) screws and observe if the fourth point is completely supported on the structure. Otherwise, put a wedge before fixing the fourth screw. PUTTING INTO SERVICE TERMINAL MARKINGS The primary and secondary terminals are marked in accordance to the standard required by the customer. The connection diagrams of the primary and secondary terminals can easily be found on the diagram plates fixed on the iransformers. ONNECTIONS Secondary Termin 5.2.2. Vv GEC ALSTHOM TaD - One point of each secondary winding must be grounded to earth to fix its potential level. Each transformer has two interconnected grounding terminals. One is situated inside the terminal box and the other on the transformer base. = When and while the transformer is energized NEVER leave the secondary windings open circuited. Under such a condition, a dangerous and high induced voliage may appear in the secondary terminals. Therefore, the non-employed secondary windings must always be necessarily short-circuited. - Connect measuring and/or protection instruments according to the indicated polarity, Be sure that the secondary did not stay opened. Primary Terminals = The fransformer is always supplied with bars connected for the highest primary current connection. - Check the correct position of the reconnection bars of the primary terminals according the desired primary current. - IMPORTANT: The reconnection bars must be in the same position for both primary terminals (Pi and PA) or (HI and H4). = Check the tighiness of all connection screws of the reconnection bars to assure good a contact tightness of 50 N.m (M12-screw). = Connect the high voltage line fo the Current Transformer primary terminals with appropriate connectors to ensure good contact. = IMPORTANT: The primary terminal connections are of great importance to the ‘equipment performance. Base Grounding The base is supplied with grounding pad that must be connected to the substation grounding mesh. 5.3. 54. 5.5. Vv GEC ALSTHOM T&D P COVE! TENTIAL INSTALLATION (FI Be sure that poinis 1, Z, 8 and 9 on Fig. 5 are in the same potential of the primary terminals. OULLE ‘ATO! See Fig. 5. ‘The oil level indicator consists of three important pieces: A) The disk that lays on the expansion diaphragm (item2). 8) The pendulum thot is fastened to the disk by a small ring (item 4). C) The dial-plate that is divided in three bands. The central band is green and the two others are red (item 5). Ifthe transformer is under normal operation, the pendulum is on the green band of the dial-plate. FIELD TESTS. Before energizing the Current Transformer, the following tests are recommended: A) Ratio (T.T.R); B) Polarity (Polarimeter); C) Saturation Voltage (Voltage Source, Volimeter and Ammeter}; D) Winding Ohmic Resistance (Wheatsthone Bridge); &) Insulation Resistance with d.c. (Megger); #} Insulation Power Factor (Doble M.E.U. 2500 Bridge). 61. oO 6.2. 6.2.1. oO 6.2.2. 6.3. 6.3.1. V GEC ALSTHOM T&D — MAINTENANCE ‘The transformers are supplied completely sealed. It is recommended that a complete and thoroughly inspection be carried out before putting the equipment into service. This inspection must be made at regular intervals. PORCELAIN INSULATOR CLEANING Clean the porcelain insulator at regular intervals depending on the local atmospheric contamination level. BASE Base Make visual inspection of the base at regular intervals, according fo the customer criteria, and check if there is any oil leakage in the following points: in the base between the porcelain and the flange; = around the terminal box fixing; + around the filling plug. Connection - Check if the connection to earth and the connections to the secondary terminals are in good conditions. Check the tightness of the screw of the secondary terminals. HEAD. Check if there is no oil leakage at the top of the porcelain. 6.3.2 6.3.3. y GEC ALSTHOM T&D Check the connection of the primary terminals, that is the tightness of the connectors and reconnection bars. Remove the top cover to get access to the diaphragm (Fig. 5) and check: if there is no oll leakage around # ifthe diaphragm is in good con: expansion diaphragm connection and/or ions. if it exists coherence between the diaphragm real position and the pendulum of the oil level indicator {item 4 - Fig. 5) = ifthe diaphragm is in the concavity position it indicates oil leakage. if the diaphragm is in abnormal convex position it indicates probable internal failure. In this case, put the transformer out of service immediately. NOTE: In spite of the precautions taken in the factory in the moment of filling the jransformer with oil, the part surrounding the joints and the expansion diaphragm may be slightly greasy. This must not be considered as oil leakage ifthe diaphragm position is always convex. PANYING TH IT_TRANSFORMER PERFORMAN( = After the first hours in operation and every time that there is series/parallel reconnection, it is recommended accompanying the temperature of primary terminal connections by thermovisor inspection. - Itis recommended to carry out the following tesis each 4 years. A) Insulation Resistance with d.c. (Megger).
