Direct Recruitment for the post of Junior Stenographer

On-line applications are invited for filling-up of One post of Junior Stenographer (Group ‘C’)
(Unreserved) in the Commission on Direct Recruitment Basis in the Pay Scale Rs. 25500-81000 (Pay
Matrix-4) as per following eligibility criteria:

1. Age 18-25 years (As on 01.10.2022)


(Age relaxation to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and
Other Backward Classes (NCL), Physically Handicapped
(OH), Ex-Servicemen etc. as per Govt. rules)
2. Educational & other Essential:
Qualifications (i) Higher Secondary or equivalent.
(ii) A speed of at least 80 words per minute in shorthand &
40 words per minutes in typing in English.
Desirable:
(i) Degree of a recognized University.
(ii) Experience of working in a Government office or
undertaking.

The post carries Dearness Allowance, HRA, Gratuity and other benefits like Medical Reimbursement,
LTC etc. as stipulated in the Delhi Urban Art Commission (Employees’ Terms and Conditions of
Service) Regulations as amended from time to time. Written/Skill tests are expected to be
conducted during November, 2022.

PATTERN OF EXAM:
PHASE-I (WRITTEN/COMPUTER BASED TEST)
• 100 Numbers of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) -Maximum Marks: 100 marks
• Indicative Subject: English Language and Comprehension, General Intelligence &
Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill), General Awareness and
Computer Awareness
• Duration of Computer Based/Online Test – 120 Minutes and 140 minutes shall be
given candidates with disability (HH).

⚫ QUALIFYING MARKS FOR PHASE-I IN SHALL BE MINIMUM 50% (i.e 50 Marks)

MARKED ANSWER

PHASE- 2 (TYPING TEST/SKILL TEST)


• A Speed of at least 40 words per minute in typing in English only.
• Duration of Skill/Typing Test - 10 minutes.
• Typing/Skill test shall be qualifying in Nature.

PHASE- 3 (SHORTHAND/STENO TEST)


• Dictation through audio clip in English language having 800 Words with duration of
10 mins and their transcription having duration of 45 mins.
• Steno pad and HB pencils shall be facilitated at test venues.
• Shorthand/Steno Test shall be qualifying nature.

SELECTION PROCESS:
The Merit of candidates for the post of Junior Stenographer (Group C) shall be prepared taking a
weight-age of PHASE-I (Written/Computer Based/Online Test) Only. Phase 2 and 3 shall be
qualifying in nature.
SYLLABUS OF EXAMINATION:
General Intelligence & Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non- verbal type.
The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem
solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation,
relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number
series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s
abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and
other analytical functions.
General Awareness: knowledge of current events and questions relating to India and its
neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic
scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc.
English Language & Comprehension: Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/ Homonyms,
Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting misspelled words, Idioms & Phrases, One-word substitution,
Improvement of Sentences, Active/ Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/ Indirect
narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage,
Comprehension Passage, Parts of speech.
Quantitative Aptitude:
1 Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions, Relationship
between number.
2 Fundamental arithmetical operations: Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, square roots,
Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and loss, Discount, Partnership Business,
Mixture and Allegation, Time and distances, Time and Work.
3 Statistical Charts: Use of Table and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar-diagram,
Pie-Chart.
Computer Literacy:
The candidate is expected to be able to handle all regular office work on computers.
Knowledge of MS office (word, excel, PowerPoint) including basic commands, Google Docs, emails,
digital signature, commonly use social media handles (Whatsapp, FB, Twitter, etc.) would be tested.

The persons in Government service must also sent the applications through proper channel or they
produce ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their present employer before shorthand/Skill test. The
candidate selected will be required to join the post on immediate basis.
