Analysing Toy Story Drama Theatre

PLOT:   

 What is the overall importance of the plot or pattern of Toy Story?  It’s really incredible, it


just like the actual movie.
 Does the play arouse  suspense?  It’s really build the suspense well nor fast and slow, me as
audience really enjoy the theatre.
 Is the plot intricate, perhaps including a subplot as well as the main plot? It’s not really
complicated because it’s based on the actual movie as well so the audience that already
watched the movie will enjoy it.
 Does the plot of the play cover a broad span or a narrow segment of time?  I would say not
really time consuming. It’s a solid plot.
 What main conflicts are depicted in the play? When woody feels like being replaced by Buzz
as Andy’s favourite toy
  Are they primarily conflicts between  characters, within characters, or between characters
and other nonhuman forces?  The conflicts are between characters.
  Are the conflicts resolved?  Yes, the conflicts was resolve by the end.  

CHARACTERIZATION: 

 What is the overall importance of characterization in the play?  It’s really importance to


capture the audience eyes because some of the audience definitely already watch the actual
movie.
 Are the characters complex, 
and do they absorb your main interest as you watch or read theplay? Yes, it really was
complex and captured my attention at the first sight.  
 How are the characters revealedby what they say, what they do not say, what others say
about them, what they do or choose not to do?  I really like how they communicate with
more musical than the actual movie, it’s bring fresh air to the drama.
 Do the stage directions throw any light on the characters?  As far as I watch, they don’t
throw any light on the characters.
 How far does a particular character change or develop, and why? The characters really
developed well, because it’s along with the progress of the conflicts that being solved.

STRUCTURE

 Does the play have formal structural divisions (acts or scenes)?  If so, how are they related
to each other?  Yes, it have formal structural divisions. They used curtain and big screen to
play.
 Can the play be analyzed in terms of the traditional sequence of exposition, rising action,
climax, falling action, and resolution?  Yes, it can be analysed because the play using
traditional sequence.
 Does the play have one climax, or more than one?  It have two climax. 

SETTING:   
 How essential is the setting to the play? The setting was really amazing, they showed every
detail in the setting.
 Is the world of the play limited to a particular place 
or time, or to a particular social class (the leisured upper class in eighteenth century
London, for example)? No, They really play with really like the setting on the actual movie
with a lot of toy stuff, big screen or even big claw machine.
 What do you learn about the setting from the characters’ language, dress, and behaviour? A
good setting will really bring the best of the characters.
  Do the stage directions specify a set design?  If so, is it realistic or symbolic?   Yes, it’s so
realistic and cool at the same time.
 What is the characters’ relationship with the setting?  Do they feel influenced by it, or
traped by it? Because the story about how’s life as a toy, the characters really into the
setting, not they were trapped, they influenced by the setting.
 How does the setting of the play contribute to its atmosphere?  The atmosphere was
incredible, the setting, the plot, the characters even the costume and songs was chef kiss, I
love it.

THEME:   

 What images recur in the play and what associations are built up around them?  It’s the


image of Toy characters world would be living in the real world.
 Does the play include discussions or debate about ideas? It’s including some debates
between the characters as their conflicts.
 Do the specific characters and action appear to represent more general, perhaps universal
characters, forces or qualities? It’s not really general, I would say unique kind of action. It’s a
mix between cartoon, action and slice of life.
