How does the film cue particular reactions on the part of viewers (sound,
editing, characterization, camera movement, etc.)? Why does the film
encourage such reactions?
In the part of the films that give cue in a reaction to the viewers is the
characterization. This film encourages the reaction of living in the faith. The
sound effect that they use gives more Impact to the story of it. We can see that
the camera movement it focuses or zoom to the character who is talking.
What is illuminated, what is in the shadow? How does the lightning scheme
shape our perception of character, space or mood?
We can see in the film that it wasn’t illuminated maybe at some point
where in the story about that Elsa see the Virgin Mary with her naked eyes. The
lightning scheme of the film is according to what the scene to have and of course
it add s something to the mood of the film.
Which shot distances are used? Do you notice a movement from longer to
closer shot distances? When are the various shot distances used (e.g., the
opening of the scene, during a conversation, etc.) what purposes do the
shot distances serve?
We can see that it have longer to closer shot distances specially when
Elsa run. It have the opening the scene and of course during the conversation
where the camera focuses to the people who is talking. The purpose of this shot
is to tension to scene.
How do camera angles function? What information do they provide about
characters, objects, and spaces? Do they guide the viewer’s eye toward
particular details? Do they align the viewer’s perspective with that of a
character?
The camera angles have this zoom in and zoom out also during
conversation and longer to shorter shot distance to emphasizes the character’s
feeling so that the audience will know or feel what the character’s wanted us to
feel.
What types of cuts are used? How are the cuts used (to establish rhythm,
shift between characters, transition between spaces, mark passage of
time)? Do editing comment on the relationships between characters and/or
spaces?
They used hard cut which is done outside of the natural flow of a scene in
a film. The editing of the film gives a relationship to the characters and spaces/\.
We can see that they edit this film along what the film wanted to the audience
feel and learn something towards this film.
What is the music’s purpose in the film? How does it direct our attention
within the image? How does it shape our interpretation of the image?
In the film Himala they didn’t use music. But the purpose of the music is to
add some feelings to the story.
How might industrial, social, and economic factors have influenced the
film? Do conditions in the filmmaking industry limit the way in which the
film can represent particular subjects? Does the film follow or critique
dominant ideologies? Does it reflect and shape particular cultural
tensions?
These films really have this impact to us. As we Filipino’s who have many
believes and we always believe on miracles. So in the conditions in the
filmmaking industry doesn’t limit on the way which the film represent the miracle
that we believe of. Yes definitely it reflects and shape our particular cultural
tensions. As what i’ve said we Filipino’s tends to easily believe what other people
told us without seeing it or witness it. In that we can say that everything that we
heard is true and we needed to believe into it.
