Distance is not an obstacle for LOs to fulfill their obligations

The National Polytechnic English Olympic (NPEO) is a prestigious English competition at the
national level. This competition will be held at Padang State Polytechnic and lasts for 3 days,
starting from 24 May 2022-26 May 2022. This competition will be followed by 52 Polytechnics
throughout Indonesia and consists of 5 competitions, News Casting, Debate, Speech, Writing,
and Story Telling.

Because this competition will be attended by approximately 50 polytechnics throughout

Indonesia, additional personnel are needed, known as Liaison Officers (LO). The LOs
themselves were filled by several level 1 and 2 students from the Department of English at the
Padang State Polytechnic.

The LO will be divided into 2 parts, the LO for the contest and the LO for the contingent. Where
representatives of the LO competitions will be responsible for each competition, while the LO
contingent will be obliged to handle one polytechnic from each LO. The total number of LOs is
94 people, including the LOs for the contests and the contingent LOs.

These LOs have their own responsibilities, where behind their obligations there are of course
things that they must obey and carry out for the smooth running of this NPEO event. One of
them is that they are required to arrive on time at 06.45. Which of course for some LO
difficulties to overcome this timeliness.

"Honestly, it is very difficult to manage punctuality as long as I am obligated to be this LO,

because I really have to leave my house around 06.10 so I can come on time." Said Alya
Maharesa LO representative. "Moreover, sometimes the road conditions at that time are very
congested, which makes it difficult for me if I come in a hurry," he added.

The information given by Alya Maharesa explained that there were some LOs who had difficulty
managing time. As for another LO representative, Hanum Humairah, where he also experienced
the same difficulties as Alya Maharesa. “For me personally, it's actually also a complicated thing
to do for 5 days in a row, because not to mention the traffic jams and maybe I sometimes wake
up late. Therefore, I have to use a motorbike to arrive faster,” continued Hanum Humairah.

But from the information they provide, they can overcome the problems they face. Which is
where Alya Maharesa overcomes her problem by getting up early and Hanum Humairah who
overcomes it by traveling by motorized vehicle to get to her destination quickly.

Such is the form of struggle of the 2 representatives of the LO, which shows that distance is not a
barrier for them to carry out their responsibilities. Because they believed that as long as they
were able to overcome their problems, they would definitely get through it.
