Course Insight Summary#4

TOPIC: Stages of Moral Development
I. Context – How do I interpret and process of moral development?

Moral development, in my opinion, is an essential component of being human. The stages

represent a person's maturation. We tend to be self-centered at first, but as we grow to appreciate other
people's norms, laws, and viewpoints, we finally arrive at a place where the greater good must be
protected regardless of what the law requires.
II. Experience – what experience in life reinforces this moral principles?

Every day, I deal with moral dilemmas. The suggested moral principles point me in the right
route. It makes clear the right course of action in dilemmas..

III. Reflection – what did I think and feel about the topic?

The topics that were brought up did have an impact on me. I realized that many of my friends'
and my own, seemingly normal ways of thinking actually fell into the morally immature categories. It
caused me to consider my actions.

IV. Action – what do I plan to do with this new found insight?

After learning this, I wish to adopt a mindset to preserve my moral development. I'll give them another look
before deciding and question my presumptions.

Evaluation – what areas do I need to improve on for this topic

Even when it is not in my best interests, I have a propensity to listen to what other people have to
say. I need to get better in this area.
