What We’re Learning:
Reading Workshop: This week, we will continue our first unit in
Reading Workshop called Interpreting Characters: The Heart
of the Story (fiction). Comprehension strategies will be
modeled while I read The Tiger Rising aloud to the class
during our mini-lessons.
Writing Workshop: This week, we will continue our writing
workshop unit called The Arc of the Story: Writing Realistic
Fiction. The first bend entails generating ideas in our
notebooks by observing the world around us and creating
stories we wish existed.
Math: Chapter 2- Multiply by 1-Digit Numbers- Students will
develop understanding and fluency with multi-digit
multiplication, and developing understanding of dividing to find
quotients involving multidigit dividends.
Science: Students will learn energy is present whenever there
are moving objects, sound, light, or heat. When objects collide,
energy can be transferred from one object to another,
thereby changing their motion.
Social Studies: Students will learn about California’s 4 distinct
regions: mountain, valley, desert, and coast.
