1) Did the slavery of the Africans in the 17 th – 19th century virtuous and reasonable? Why or why
not?

Yes, From the seventeenth century on, slaves became the focus of trade between Europe and Africa.
Europe’s conquest and colonization of North and South America and the Caribbean islands from the
fifteenth century onward created an insatiable demand for African laborers, who were deemed more fit
to work in the tropical conditions of the New World. The numbers of slaves imported across the Atlantic
Ocean steadily increased, from approximately 5,000 slaves a year in the sixteenth century to over
100,000 slaves a year by the end of the eighteenth century.

2) According to Aristotle, is limitless food consumption a good kind of pleasure? Why or why not?

Yes, As Aristotle expresses it, pleasure is the natural accompaniment of unimpeded activity. Pleasure, as
such, is neither good nor bad, but is something positive because the effect of pleasure perfects the
exercise of that activity. If happiness is activity in accordance with virtue, it is reasonable that it should
be in accordance with the highest virtue

3) In Feynman’s view in 05 Readings 3, How could have the governments back then influenced
African Slavery?

The importance of The West Indian colonies, the shortage of Labor, the failure to find alternative sources
of labor, the illegal position, Racial Attitudes, Religious factors, Military Factors How did slavery influence
Africa?

The slave trade had devastating effects in Africa. Economic incentives for warlords and tribes to engage
in the slave trade promoted an atmosphere of lawlessness and violence. Depopulation and a continuing
fear of captivity made economic and agricultural development almost impossible throughout much of
western Africa.
4) Dr. Gripaldo elaborated in 05 Readings 4 that national public good must be prioritized over
private interests. Will you Consider the slaver of the African people a sacrifice for the national
public good of Europe and America Why or Why not?

Yes because the slaves of African people are their need because Europe and America is lacking of
workers for their national public good, National People and the Public Good This type of goods may
probably become global public goods
