Lesson 2: Part 4, 5, 6

I. Objective: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to say and respond to
goodbye.
II. Language focus:

Warm up Warm up: Spend a few minutes revising the previous T-whole class

- Tell Ss that they are going to listen to four dialogues T-whole class
and number the picture.
- Ask them to say where the children are from and their
nationalities
- Play the recording more than once, if necessary. Tell
them that they should focus on nations.
- Get Ss to swap their answers before checking the class.

write - Tell Ss that they are going to read the dialogues and fill Individual

the gap, using the picture cues.
- Ask them to look at three dialogues and explain them.
Use the first picture as an example and check their
comprehension by asking: Who’s in this picture? Where
is she from? What nationality is she?
- Then guide Ss to fill the gaps before asking them to do
the task individually.
- Check answers as a class call three Ss to read aloud the
completed sentences.

Let’s play: 3.Let’s play:
10’ - Prepare equal numbers of cards with the following Groupwork
words: America, Australia, England, Malaysia, Viet Nam
and Japan. The total number of cards should be equal to
or more than the number of Ss. Then mix the cards up
and deliver one to every individual in the class. The
cards represent where the Ps are from.
- Tell Ss to choose a country. They should talk to their
classmates and try to find one who is from the country
they have chosen.
- When everyone has found a classmate from the country
of their choice, call a few to introduce themselves and
their partners, by saying the countries they are from and
their nationalities.
Ex. I’m Ha. I’m from England. I’m English. Linh is
from America. She’s American.

Lesson 3: Part 1, 2, 3

I. Aim: - By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to pronounce the sounds of the
letters l and n in the words Linda and Night respectively.
II. Language focus: + Structure:

Presentation 1. Listen and repeat:


(10’) - Tell Ss that they are going to practice saying the sounds T-whole class
of the letters l and n in the words Linda and night
respectively.
- Put the letters l and n on the board.
- Play the recording and ask Ss to repeat a few times.
- Write the words Linda and night and the sentences
Hello, Linda and Goodnight on the board
- Play the recording a few times and let Ss say the words
and phrases, paying attention to the target sounds.
- Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds
- get some Ps to perform in front of the class
10’ 2. Listen and circle. Then write and say aloud: T-whole class
- Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording,
circle the correct options and then write the words in the
blanks.
- Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in
silence and guess the words to fill the gaps.
- Play the recording more than once.
- Give Ss time to write the words in the gaps
independently.
- Have them swap their answers before checking as a
class.
- Ask Ss to read the sentences aloud.

10’ 3. Let’s chant
- Ask Ss look at the pictures and identify the character in
the pictures
- Play the recording for Ss to listen.
- Play the recording again for Ss to repeat each line and
clap the syllables.
- Divide the class into two. One group repeats each line
of the chant, the other clap the syllables. Repeat the step
but this time the groups swap their parts.
- Call some volunteers to recite the chants. The rest of
the class clap the syllables.
- Make a few questions to check S's comprehension of
the chant.
- Ask all the class repeat the chant to reinforce their
pronunciation.

- Tell Ss that they are going to read the two texts and and
answer the four questions.
- Get Ss to read the first text and focus on the information
and answer the first two questions. Then ask them to read
the second text and answer the last two questions.
- Give time to do the task independently.
- Have them swap their answers before checking as a
class.

- Tell Ss that they are going to do a project.
- Explain the activities and check understanding.
- Give each pupil a small card. Let Ss copy the four
categories from the book onto their cards.
- Ask them to write the information about themselves.
- Get them to swap their cards in pairs.
- Call some Ss to the front of the class and tell the class
about their partners.
* Reinforcement: Tell Ss that they are going to tell the
teacher abouthim/her card.

Warm up Warm up: Greet Ss and get their responses, using the T-whole class
5’ words and phrases they learnt in U1 like Hi/Hello. Nice
to see you again. Then revise the previous lesson by
having them say the chant

are going to read a story in which the characters ask
and answer questions about where they are from.
- Play the tape once
- Play the tape again, get ss to repeat, T-SS, SS-SS, S1-
S2.
- Elicite the new structure: Where are you from?
