PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Teachers are evaluated on the performance standards using the performance appraisal rubrics at
the bottom of each page in this section. The performance indicators are provided as samples of
activities that address the standard. The list of performance indicators is not exhaustive, is
not intended to be prescriptive, and is not intended to be a checklist. Furthermore, all
teachers are not expected to demonstrate each performance indicator.

Performance Standard 1: Professional Knowledge


The teacher demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, and
the developmental needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.
