Core Function: 

The Project Engineer position assists the Maintenance group within the
Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) by assessing equipment and providing
recommendations and work packages to the Maintenance Engineer and
Engineering Services group for implementation. This role will assist in the long
term planning for the WWTP’s equipment maintenance needs.
Duties: 

1. Assists with planning, design, technical reviews, and studies for


expansion and asset management needs of the wastewater treatment
plant
2. Assists with budgeting, planning, and scheduling of work, including cost
estimates and equipment replacement lists.
3. Identify equipment assets for replacement, including preliminary
documents, drawings and calculations required to define the scope and
design basis.
4. Assists with the evaluation of electrical, mechanical, process and
construction drawings and specifications as prepared internally or by
consultants.
5. Participates in the tendering process for projects, including preparing
front-end documents and acting as a liaison between consultants,
contractors and the purchasing section of the Department.
6. Acts as resident engineer coordinating work between consultants,
contractors and operations staff for projects during construction, start-
up, commissioning and warranty work.
7. Conducts equipment failure analysis, optimizes equipment efficiencies
and provides safety engineering support for work groups. This includes
preparing reports and making recommendations.
8. Assists the Maintenance Engineer by providing technical mentorship to
work groups and Engineering Services. This includes creating
equipment training packages.
9. Fills in as Maintenance Engineer or Water Operations Manager
designate as required, as well as, other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

 Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and registered or


eligible for registration as a professional engineer with Association of
Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of
Saskatchewan or registered as an engineering licensee with appropriate
scope of practice with Association of Professional Engineers.
 Four to six years of progressively responsible experience in wastewater
treatment in a design, operations, maintenance and construction
capacity.
 Knowledge of the theoretical aspects of wastewater treatment.
 Ability to analyze, evaluate and prepare a wide variety of reports, plans
and specifications.
 Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
staff, contractors and the public.
 Ability to lead, manage and participate in all phases of engineering
projects.
 Skill in the operation of a computer with the current version of Microsoft
Office, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD software.
 Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record
  A vehicle suitable for use in the performance of duties is required
