Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.
Starbucks has gone through a major culture change that is effecting the moral of the
organization. Starbucks has to figure out how to move forward as an organization with
the currrent culture and also change the culture. My role within the organization is a shift
manager leading baristas in day to day activities.
I belive that ethics played a big part in this situation. One of the big issues Starbucks was
having had to deal with their stock buy back program. This was a move that helped the
company finachialy look good but nothing else. It totally went against the purpose of the
organization and how it is so posed to be ran.
3) Recommend how you would apply one of the ethical communities for an alternative
course of action regarding your case.
I think that Starbucks needs to be open and honest, which they have, about their bad
finacial moves that only impacted the company for looks. I think that the honesty and
motion to change would be a good move for Starbucks to move forward in their pursuit
of excellence. This could show that they are being purposeful in the way they are moving
on from the bit of a hiccup they have been experiencing.
4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about ethics.
As I stated before, I think Starbucks has been open and honest about their mistakes and
what they are going to do moving forward. I think that I would add some emphasis on
how they show up moving forward. I think that they could also make some new

promosies about what they are planning on doing so people can keep them accountable
which they have done.
