LAB 1: HYPERVISOR INSTALLATIONS AND VIRTUAL MACHINE CONFIGURATION

LAB Report1:
First of fall our great “Professor Mr. Bilal Munir “teaches us about virtualization and
hypervisor. Hypervisor types, Benefit of hypervisor and the guideline on lab work.

What is virtualization?

Ans. Virtualization is changing the mindset from physical to logical. What virtualization means is
creating more logical IT resources, called virtual systems, within one physical system. That's
called system virtualization. It most commonly uses the hypervisor for managing the resources
for every virtual system.

What is hypervisor, hypervisor types , Benefit of hypervisor.

Ans. A hypervisor (or virtual machine monitor, VMM, virtualizer) is similar to an emulator, it is
computer software, firmware or hardware that creates and runs virtual machines. A computer
on which a hypervisor runs one or more virtual machines is called a host machine, and each
virtual machine is called a guest machine. The hypervisor presents the guest operating systems
with a virtual operating platform and manages the execution of the guest operating systems.
Multiple instances of a variety of operating systems may share the virtualized hardware
resources for example. Linux, Windows, and macOS instances can all run on a single physical
x86 machine. There are two types of hypervisors:

 Types 1 hypervisor
 Types 2 hypervisor

Benefit of hypervisor.

 Speed
 Efficiency
 Flexibility
 portability

Lab Tasks

In the Lab task we have the virtual Box Installation and Virtual Machine Configuration.

 Download: http://www.virtualbox.org/
 Installation Instruction: http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch02.html
 Configuration Virtual Machines: http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.html

-We Download the Virtual box from the given Link:

-I install the Virtual Box

 Create a new folder in a empty disk and name the operating system.
This is the Oracle VM Virtual Box Manager we open it.
-We know about some important shortcut keys.

-According to the professor instruction we go to the Preferences.

-We go to Extension open the folder where the same code extension was there we add
extension and install it.
 We Install according to the professor Instruction.
 Now we can see the main menu

We go to machine click it or press Ctrl + N.

 We can see this create virtual machine

 We name the any operating system name Linux and save the file in the Disk D.
 where the operation system file is located in the d folder.
 We give the type and version of Linux.

 We go to next.
 We select the memory size according how much you need it.
 we click on do not can add a virtual hard disk and create.
 We can also choose the Create virtual hard disk now and choose VDI and create.
Now we will add one more operating system , name windows 10 and create.
It will show like this.

 Linux
 Window 10

After the creation of 2 operation system, we can also do some advance setting.

-Go to setting

 You can see

 General
 System
 Display
 Storage
 Audio
 Network
 Serial port
 USB
 Shared folder
 User interface
System:

 We can go to the system, increase or decrease the base memory and we can do boot
order setting , we need only hard disk to use.

Processor

 We have 8 unit professor according to need we can select.

Display

 We can select video memory according to the system and monitor count.

Storage

 We have storage in which we can load drive etc.

 And etc are used according to the user requirements.
 After the setting we start the operating system.

 same Due to some fatal error it’s not working. The iso operating window system is
missing

Now we will first download linux and window os iso operating file.

 Go to the setting, select storage and then add iso file.

Here we have the both window and linus iso file and start the system.

Ubuntux or linux is starting and we installing

Fatal Error: Solved. The operating system working.
