English project: environmental issues in mexico
Mexico is in a predicted crisis. Environmental pollution in the country, mainly in Mexico
City, is unsustainable. The situation has led the country to collapse. There are many
environmental problems facing the nation. In 2015, Forbes Magazine identified six
environmental problems in the country. According to the magazine, these would lead
Mexico to collapse. These were the lack of water, mobility, power generation, garbage,
pollution and urban planning. Mexico is a state party to the Kyoto Protocol. Generally, it
has shown that it takes environmental policy seriously. However, it continues to face
several very serious environmental challenges. The supply of clean water to Mexico City,
air pollution in the capital and other major cities, deforestation and erosion in rural
Mexico These are some of the most pressing problems. A sharp decline in population
growth is alleviating some environmental pressures. However, policies aimed at
conserving the environment are not a high priority. Hence, sustainable development is not
promoted .

The dark days of Mexico

Mexico, recently, is going through its darkest days. Just a few days ago, Mexico City was
unbreathable. The smog (fog mixed with smoke and pollutants) was so dense that it was
impossible to breathe. This occurs due to the concentration of ozone in the environment.
Ozone is an irritating and highly oxidizing gas. It mainly affects the mucous membranes.
Pollution due to the high concentration of ozone mainly affects the respiratory and
cardiovascular systems. This led to the paralysis of several cities in the country for at least
two days and the declaration of an environmental contingency.

In Mexico City, school activities were suspended, a vehicle restriction was imposed, it was
recommended to avoid doing activities outdoors. This is what causes pollution at such a
level. Added to this, the dense smog in the city only made things worse. This dense fog,
caused by a series of fires is alarming. Causes irreparable effects to human health.
Breathing that air is risky for everyone who does. However, this level of contamination
affects children to a greater extent. This contamination limits children's lung growth. It
irritates their eyes, causes a runny nose, and the development of cardiovascular disease.

But how bad is the problem? According to experts from the Center for Atmospheric
Sciences, the situation is critical.
The international standard for a crisis is 25 micrometers per cubic meter of PM 2.5
particles. According to national measurements, Mexico was between 110 micrometers of
Pm 2.5 for one week. This is the international standard of the World Health Organization.
A crisis that could be prevented
All experts in the field conclude on one thing. This scenario could have been prevented.
Just a few months ago, the director of the Mexican Center for Environmental Law warned
of a possible environmental crisis in May. Mexican scientists agree that clear action plans
were needed for this month. Every year, it is common for fires to occur in Mexico City due
to high temperatures in May and June. Every year, the same thing happens. On the other
hand, experts consider that contingency plans are not enough. The measures, which have
focused on limiting mobility, cause minimal impact. It just keeps the problem from getting
worse in the short term. However, it can be expected that, if concrete measures are not
taken, the next year will be worse. Citizen awareness must be increased. Authorities must
be trained to deal with the problem. More sustainable lifestyles should be promoted.
Experts consider certain measures that need to be taken. Careful contingency and action
plans must be designed. Sustainable transport should be promoted. We must raise
awareness about non-motorized mobility. History repeats itself In May 2016,
Mexico City experienced one of the worst environmental episodes in its history. This is
due to fires and high temperatures. As a result, the air that its inhabitants breathed
became the most harmful in 14 years. The authorities then decided to take contingency
measures. These were to restrict the movement of cars and people. Environmental alerts
were decreed. In addition to this, a strict verification of vehicle emissions was promoted.

why did they choose it

This problem is chosen because it is an issue that has affected the planet little by little and
it is not known how long the planet can endure more since we have been consuming our
planet and every time it is running out of time and It is time to take actions now, if not
actions are taken, the planet will no longer be able to resis

Solutions
 One of the main solutions is to bet on clean energy to reduce the effects of the
greenhouse effect a little.
 Another solution to promote recycling and the separation of inorganic and
organic waste
 have more places to dump the garbage or recycling centers since it has found
what happened in the sunidero canyon that is completely full of garbage

 the use of new cars that move by means of a motor powered by electricity such
as teslas or hybrids that help the planet in the same way
 Also try to implement a rule that prohibits the burning of garbage that this also
causes air pollution and its quality
