7 WAYS TO REFRESH A TIRED KITCHEN | BUDGET

KITCHEN IDEAS | 7 CHEAP KITCHEN UPDATES

If your kitchen is looking a little tired, give it a fresh new look by

making some small changes, such as replacing cabinet
hardware or changing the color of a wall. If you are feeling
more ambitious, you can make bigger changes that, although
they will require a little more time and effort, can create more
impact.

1. CREATE A FEATURE WALL

Add interest to your kitchen by painting or wallpapering one
wall in an eye-catching color or pattern.
CHOOSE SOME NEW ACCESSORIES in colors that tone
with the wall to pull the design scheme together.
2. CHANGE CABINET HARDWARE
Update the look of your cabinets by adding new hardware. The
simplest option is to look for designs that will cover existing
holes.
FILL ANY HOLES with appropriate filler if your knobs and
pulls don’t cover them, then sand and touch them up with
paint.

3. REPLACE DOORS
For a real transformation, replace cabinet doors and drawer
fronts. Make sure the size of the new ones is correct for your
units.
CHECK THAT THE POSITION of the door hinges is in the
same place for ease of hanging.
4. REPLACE THE BACKSPLASH
A new backsplash can make a big difference to the look of a
kitchen, especially if you choose a material different from your
old one.
5. REPLACE COUNTERTOPS
Replacing your countertops can completely change the look of
your kitchen. Swap them for any material your budget can
accommodate.
IF YOUR COUNTERTOP is a good fit, lift it out and use it as a
template for your new countertop.

6. REVAMP TILES
Give your existing tiles a makeover using tile paint, which is
available in a range of colors, or by adding decorative tile
transfers.
CONSIDER REGROUTING your tiles if the grout is looking
dirty.
7. CHANGE THE WINDOW TREATMENT
Update your window by adding a new blind. If your window
overlooks a neighbor’s house or the street, add window film.
