Esperanza, Antarctica.
Hi Robert!

My name is Maite Saez and I’m 15 years old. I am from Buenos Aires, but I’ve
lived in Esperanza, Antarctica, for 2 years now. My father is a biologist, my mother
is a nurse, and I’ve got two brothers and a little sister.
2013 was an important year for my family, because we moved to Esperanza. Two years ago my father was
offered a good job opportunity at Esperanza’s science observatory camp. He was very excited about the new job,
but my mother didn’t want to leave Buenos Aires. Then she got a job at Esperanza’s hospital and they decided
to move here. My brothers and I were very nervous, but after a while, we loved Antarctica!
The best thing about life in Antarctica is the wildlife, especially the penguins and the whales. At school we’ve
got a pet penguin called Rico. He’s always hungry; my teacher feeds him fish and vegetables. He is very funny!

Life in Esperanza is sometimes boring. But then a tourist ship arrives and we get cards
and packets from our friends and family back home. Then I’m happy. Please send me a
postcard from your city!

Best wishes, Maite

PS: I’m sending you some photos of Esperanza, I hope you like them!!
