Properly preserved and stored insect specimens can be enjoyed and studied for
hundreds of years while most insects live only for a period of days to months before they die
and decompose .Through pinning and preservation efforts, the value of the maintenance of
these insects will increase, new species are found and described and it is often necessary for
that it estimates numbers of species and monitor changes in population size from place to
place and from time to time. Intelligent, reasoned and purposeful pinning and preserving of
butterflies and moths can save individuals for educational and scientific purposes especially
to us student.
This guide on proper steps in pinning and preserving Lepidoptera would help other
students, researchers, and future learners to deepen their knowledge and understanding about
it and would also serve as a basis for a successful pinning and preservation of insects
specifically butterflies and moths.
