I. Aims: By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to use the words and phrases
related to the topic “school things” and identify school things, using “This/that is +
school thing”

Presentation * New lesson:


(15’) 1. Look, listen and repeat:
* Vocabulary: T- whole class
- pen
- pencil
- pencil case
- rubber
- pencil sharpener
- school bag
- notebook
* Checking Vocabulary: slap the board.
- Tell Ss that they are going to talk about the school
things, using “this/that is + school thing.
- Elicit the names of the characters and what they say.
- Have Ss repeat the text in the bubbles, repeat the
same procedure with the second pictures.
- Play the recording for Ss to listen and say along.
* Model sentence:
A: This/That is my pen.
B: Is it ?
A: Yes, it is./No, it isn’t
Practice 2. Point and say: Pairwork
(10’) - Tell Ss that they are going to practice saying
“This/That is + ………..”
- Give a few seconds for Ss to look at the pictures and
read the words.
- Check comprehension and give feedback.
- Point to the first picture and elicit the word to fill
the gap.
- Put the sentence on the board, have Ss repeat it a
few times.
- Do choral and individual repetition, using the
pictures in the book or objects in the classroom.
(5’) 3. Let’s talk: Pairwork
- Ask Ss to practice more with their friends.
- Give a few seconds for Ss to look at the picture and
check their understanding by eliciting the name of
each school facilities.
- Ask Ss to fill in the blank.
- Put the sentence on the board and do choral and
individual repetition.
- Call some pairs to act out the dialogue in front of
the class.
* Ask sts to learn by their heart and do homework.

the correct answers on the board.
- Call individual Ss to read the sentences aloud.

- Play the recording and ask Ss to listen to the tape.
- T asks Ss to listen and repeat in chorus two times.
- Have whole class repeat all phrases a few times to
reinforce their pronunciation.
2. Model sentence: Pairwork
(10’) These/Those are my pens.
- Most singular nouns + s => plural nouns
Ex: books/ notebooks/ pencils/ pens/ pencil cases/
rubbers.
* Notes: how to pronounce plural nouns.
- T models, get Ss in chorus.
- T write MS on the board, check intonation, meaning
and get SS to copy.
* Practice: Point and say:
- Elicit the characters in the pictures and the school
things.
- Have Ss look at the bubbles to understand how to
identify school things in plural nouns.
- Point to the first picture and model the task.
These are my notebooks.
- Ask Ss to repeat chorally.
- Ask Ss to repeat individually.
- Call on Ss to perform their task at the front of the
class. The rest of the class observer and give
comments.

and comment.

3. Let’s write:
(10’) - Get Ss to identify the characters in the pictures and Individual
what they are saying. Tell pupils that they are going to
read and get the information to write the missing words
in sentences.
- Ask Ss to practice and complete the sentences.
- Ask Ss to give their answers for correction.
