Introduction

As is typical for all businesses, the internal and external conditions have a significant effect on

the industry, and businesses are forced to adjust to these factors. Online streaming websites have grown

over the past few years; most folks are now abandoning the cable TV for the online streaming sites. I aim

to develop an online streaming website where people of all kinds can record and upload their content,

whether entertainment or educational content. The essay will analyze the internal and external strengths

and limitations of online streaming websites while defining areas and roles where change may be needed.

Part A: SWOT analysis

Internal and external strength

Easy access: Media texts are mostly free to watch and free to download; this is unlike cable TV,

where they will block your viewing if you have not paid. This will also allow you to skip advertisements,

unlike cable TV, where you can't skip the advertisement. A person will also have the ability to pause, fast

forward, or rewind, which is not an option on the cable TV.

Opportunity: Online streaming sites are easily accessible from your mobile device and laptop.

Therefore, you don't have to be at home to watch. You can access it from anywhere you are.

Control: Once a consumer switches to online streaming, he/she becomes master of his content.

You don't have to wait for the show you like viewing due to programming.

Internal and external weaknesses

Despite numerous strengths, online streaming faces several problems that reflect on its

limitations. The following are some of the internal and external weaknesses:

Age limitation: Age certificates for movies and TV shows are almost pointless because internet

servers are usually not asking for evidence of age. Children could access hazardous or even endangering

content, e.g., murder, pornographic content, etc.

Interactive: On-Demand streaming is not as interactive as live TV is. For instance, shows

that the X Factor enables individuals to vote, which would not be the available online feature.

Virus threat: sometimes caught by insecure, harmful websites. For example, when browsing a

website such as a Put locker to open a media document, a pop-up can lead to offensive adult material

inappropriate to kids.

Part B: Porters Five Analysis

We will use the porters five analysis to analyze the significant factors impacting online streaming

performance.

Competitive Rivalry: Competitive competition is fierce for online streaming. Some individuals

might withdraw their content from the website and sell it to websites or TV where they might get paid

more.

Power of suppliers: Movie theaters want an entire period of up to 90 days before moving on to

streaming platforms on demand. This is difficult because the content will not be new, and many people

will already have seen it.

Power of buyers: Since viewers can now see whatever they want, they can easily see something

else on the competition website if they cannot locate it on this website.⠀

The threat of new entrance: Big companies such as Apple, Disney, HBO, and Britbox have

either begun their streaming sites or recently introduced them.

The threat of substitute products: Site such as YouTube is a significant threat because it is

responsible for a substantial part of the entire video viewing. It provides live streaming and recorded

content.

Part C: Strategy development

Using these strengths and limitations, it is possible to develop an online streaming website plan

that will allow the business to gain a competitive advantage. For example:

Content branding: The organization has to improvise content audits to strengthen the brand

content plan. This would include looking at the customer's patterns and assessing the purchasing

data to provide their subscribers with customized preferences like YouTube. As a result, the

company can turn that data into a subscriber-specific content database to suggest and win

consumers through customized choices.
