INTRODUCTION
A Q.R code (stands for “Quick Response”) is a mobile phone readable barcode that is been big in Japan
forever, broke into Europe and China a while back, and in recent years has become popular in U.S. The
technical specifications for Q.R code are set down in the ISO-18004 standard so they are the same all
over the world, and the only significant variations from one Q.R code to another(apart from the data it
contains) is the number of modules required to store the data. But it does not stop there a Q.R code can
contain a phone number, an sms or email message, v-card contact details or just a plain alphanumeric
text, and the scanning device will respond the opening up the correct application on the phone to
handle the encoded data appropriate. It is the most reliable way of uniquely identifying the registered
parties through scanning their codes. Such type of feature is very useful in school as an alternative for
filing student’s information, equally, it can be used as traveler’s tickets and identity in schools.
DESCRIPTION
1. Event Tickets
This sector is highly affected by forgery. The generated codes can be filled with details such as ticket
number, events venue and the type of ticket bought i.e. VVIP, VIP or regular
This codes will reduce forgery since the tickets are tracked through a database and are only coded to be
used once and once used cannot be reused
2. Hospitals
Instead of using hospital cards, this code can be used to store basic information about the patient, the
patient can be given the code which can be produced anytime and his/her information retrieved at one
tap
3. Travelling tickets
This feature will help in online ticket booking. As we approach vision 2030 things tend to grow digital,
this codes can be used as travelers ticket.
Q.R Code will be fed with traveler’s details i.e. his/her destination, departure time, ticket number, seat
number etc.
Upon booking the ticket the code will be sent through an email or any other social media services i.e.
Whatsapp7
4. In Schools
This code can be used in schools as gate pass, to patrol student’s attendance in lectures, libraries and
during taking their meals.
This will help to reduce class inattendance as well as reduce students sneaking into lectures without
paying fees
COST
For this system to be there, monetary resources need to be there.
This project to become alive we need like 8000Ksh for some few software’s and inputs for the
project to become a reality.
REQUIREMENTS
HARDWARE REQUIREMENT
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT
ADVANTAGES
It excludes use of paperwork and human efforts
The system is helpful as it generates a systematic. Overall reports and information about
the registered parties
It maintains the records in a database instead of literal method of maintaining register
which further simplifies the process of searching for a particular record
It saves users time, cost and institute resources
The code is easily recoverable once it is lost
DISADVANTAGES
The only disadvantage is that the party using the feature need a scanner so as to access the
information on the Quick response code and internet
APPLICATIONS
The system can be used for schools, colleges and universities for recording of student’s
details and accessing the schools facilities
The feature can be used in tickets production to reduce forgery.
