A. EXPRESSIONS OF OPINION (UNGKAPAN PENDAPAT )

An opinion is an expression of a personal belief or judgment that is not founded on proof or


certainly. One’s opinion may deffer with other people’s opinions.

Some of the expressions that can be used to express an opinion are as follows :

 Expressions of asking for Opinion


 What do you think of ... ?
 Do you have any idea about ... ?
 What’s your opinion on ... ?
 What is your point of view on ... ?
 What about ... ?
 How do you feel about ... ?
 What is your reaction to ... ?
 Do you have any opinion on ... ?
 Don’t you think ... ?
 Expressions of giving opinion
 In my opinion .....
 I, personally, believe that .....
 I think .....
 From my point of view, .....
 Well, personally .....
 Well, to my mind .....
 I’m convinced that .....
 In my case, .....
 Expressins of Agreeing with someone’s Opinion
 I think so
 That’s a good idea

The example :

Jhonny : Hi Tom! What are you doing ?

Tommy : I’m reading a newspaper

Jhonny : Is there any good news ?


Tommy : I have just read about fullday school

Jhonny : What do you think about that ?

Tommy : In my view, it is useful for Indonesian education development. Because if school


time was extended until 4 or 5 PM students can learn more. Therefore, Indonesia’s
educational ranking in the world can be increased.

Jhonny : Do you think like that ? But how about the students ? Don’t you think it is too
boring for them ? Because they will be in the school all day

Tommy : No, If the teacher can bring class situation more fun. Giving them exciting
activities, so the student will enjoy their day in school

Jhonny : I think you’re right

B. CONJUNCTIONS ( KATA SAMBUNG )


Conjunctions are words that link words, phrases, or clauses. Conjunctions come in three
broad types : coordinating conjunctions, correlative conjunctions, and subordinating
conjunctions. Subordinating conjunctions connect subordinate clauses to a main clause. These
conjunctions are adverbs used as conjunctions.
To help remember the subordinating conjunctions, think of A WHITE BUS :

The example :
