1 The pirate girl
Lisa may be only thirteen, but she
has seen all films about pirates and
is used to bossing people around.
Additionally, she is good at sports
and extremely energetic. She is
head girl at her school and used to
taking the lead.
3 The swimmer
Julie (24) has just won in the
national long haul swimming
championships, and she needs a
rest, that’s why she booked the
cruise. She is used to hard work
and regular training. No need to
mention - her body is perfectly fit.
5 The first mate
William (47) was first mate on
board, and there are rumours that
he is responsible for the
inexplicable sinking of the cruise
ship. Anyway, he was on duty at
the time in question. Undoubtedly,
he is the highest official with most
experience on board.
7 The actress
Her father owned the ship, and
after his tragical death, she
claims the leadership. She is an
actress, but still waiting for her
big breakthrough. Yet, she is
bossy, confident and very
wealthy.
2 The amateur craftsman
Andrew is 45 and has built dozens
of ships in a bottle. He is a
passionate craftsman and a very
talented carpenter. He has a
profound knowledge about
construction plans. Furthermore,
he is friendly and mild-tempered.
4 The stowaway
Eli (58) was discovered in the hold
and was to be sent off in the next
port. She tried to get home to her
sick parents, but could not afford
the passage. In better days, she
employed 40 people, but her firm
had gone bankrupt in the economic
crisis.
6 The helmswoman
Sandra (32) has worked on the
ship for 12 years and knows all
about navigation. She trains a
girls’ handball team in her free
time and is a sensible and
responsible person. Everybody
likes her sense of humour, too.
8 The former pilot
Gillian (64) used to be a pilot
and booked the cruise for a
change. She hasn’t forgotten
how to fly a ship yet, and she
always got along well with the
crews on his numerous cruise
trips. A reliable woman - with a
tiny alcohol problem.
 9 The wealthy of the ships
The millionaire who made his
fortune with the ship trade, his age
is over 45, his business knowledge
is extensive. He is divorced, selfish
and self-centered, and claims
leadership of the ship.
11 The diver
An empirical diver who grew up on a
boat with his father, he taught him
how to swim and get his food by
hunting underwater. He has
knowledge in navigation but is bad
at relating to other people. Also, he
is shy and emotionally unstable.
13 The ruthless parrot
More than just a common parrot, he
is aspirate leader who, together with
his master (who recently died), has
great knowledge in the field of ships
and boats. He is characterized by
talking a lot and gossiping with his
other classmates.
15 The cook
The best-known local cook for
pirates on the seven seas, her
talent is unmatched. She though
she is accused of sometimes
poisoning food to kill pirates who
are not to her liking. She wants
to be the captain because she
wants to put together a feminist
boat.
10 The shipwrecked
A young man (24 years old) carefree,
patient and relaxed but with great
experience in boats. His whole life has
been dedicated to navigation.
He survived 280 days shipwrecked
on a remote island however his
girlfriend couldn't, why not?
Strange situation...
12 The pirate
A fierce and grumpy 30-year-old
guy who has dedicated his entire
life to everything related to boats.
However, he is accused of
committing many crimes like
robbery and murder. In addition, he
is characterized by the sloppiness
and bad smell of him.
14 the grumpy member
A member of a grumpy pirate
ship. He is always in a bad mood,
he has no patience, he likes
discussions but he also stands out
for his courage when it comes to
fighting for his tribulation. He
wants to be the captain but he
doesn't know how to be.
16 The adventuress
A sexy and ruthless pirate who
loves danger, wars and
confrontations with other
pirates. However, she is self-
centered, does not know how
to lead and just wants
everyone to obey her. Also,
she is attracted to other
women.
17 The lawyer
A teenager of only 18 years who
was raised by the sea and
surrounded by boats. Still, she
was always interested in order
and law, so while she sailed the
sea with her family, she read
many law books, which made
her a legal sailor.
You were on a cruise across the Atlantic. But there was an accident in the machine room and the
cruise ship sank. Only a few people were able to reach a lifeboat - unfortunately not the captain...
Soon, quarrels start about the distribution of food and water. One thing is clear: The little community
must find a new leader who is fair and just and who has everybody’s full trust. Read the role cards and
decide who you would choose as a new captain for your little lifeboat. After that, discuss in small
groups and justify your decision. Did you choose the same person?
