PROFESSIONAL SALESMANSHIP

1. A seller cannot generate sales without different salesperson performing their


roles at different stages of consumer buying process. Various are the three
selling functions performed are the following: Explain each function.

1. Finding out what customers need - at first in order to know what the
customer’s need. The salesperson needs to know what the customer needs first
in order to offer the right product or service to the right customer.

2. Offering a product or service to meet customer needs - if the salesperson


already knows what the customer’s need he can suggest the product or service.
Example of the customer needs a whitening soap, a salesperson can suggest
different brands like: kojic gluta soap, papaya soap and others. The
salesperson can also give more information like ingredients added, what is the
best seller and the prices of the product for the customer to measure which is
the best among the brands.

3. Ensuring offering fits within the customer's world - the salesperson needs to
make sure that the product or service they offer to the customer fits them.
From the example earlier of whitening soap, the salesperson makes sure that
the brand soap they offer matches the skin type of the customer to prevent
side-effects.

2. What are the 8 characteristics of a successful salesman? Explain each.

1. Dedicated - dedication for the work is important. Integrity and


loyalty of a person to do their work will lead to great returns
2. Respectful - salesman respect for all of the customers they may
encounter is important. In this way customers may feel they are
welcome at the store.
3. Passionate and sincere - being passionate at work is one of the
keys to be a successful salesman. Customers can feel the passion
a salesman can do and their sincereness in serving their clients.
4. efficient - efficiency during work hours is great. More assisted
customers in a period of time the better
5. Sociable and friendly - Being friendly to customers is good. This is
the first step to build a relationship among them.
6. Good listener - the ability to be a good listener to customers is
essential. If salesperson listens carefully they will fully understand
the needs of their client.
7. Doggedly persistent - this is one of the good traits of a salesperson.
they should know how to handle unforeseen scenarios or difficult
times with clients.
8. Humble learner - A successful salesperson should be capable of
growing and getting smarter.
