Lab 13 / Playing Audio

You will need a sound card and speakers or headphones for this lab.

1) Referring to the system documentation if necessary, connect the speakers or a pair of


headphones to the appropriate output jack on your computer.

Note: My headphones have a microphone; so, it has two jacks and one USB wire.

2) Press START and type control panel then click the Control Panel icon when it appears.
3) In the “Search” box, type sound.

4) Click the Sound applet from the list of results.

5) On the Playback tab, select your speakers then click the Configure button.
6) Click test—you should hear a sound from first one speaker then the other.

 A sound came from the left side first, then from the right.

7) Cancel out the dialogs.

8) Open the browsers. Type the following URL into the address bar then press ENTER.

Note: Unfortunately, the video is not available and cannot be played (The video is private). So,
to complete this part, I played another YouTube video.
9) Press Play to start the video—as it plays, try adjusting the volume using the icon on the
taskbar.

10) Optionally, shut down your computer if you are not continuing to use it after this lab.
