Students are able to: a. ask questions politely using wh-questions. b. respond to questions politely c. Introduce themselves based on the Teens Profile they have completed.. d. share about their new year resolution / and holiday experiences with their friends. 1. Brief introduction on the - themes and skills to be covered for the year. - teachers expectations (attitude, punctuality relating to handing in exercises, classroom participation) - the number of exercise books (A4) to be Prepared - grouping, procedures and schedule for SBOA - list of form 5 literature component 2. Task 1: Students are given a piece of blank paper. They are to draw themselves (their face). Teacher collects the drawings/sketches. 3. Task 2: Getting to know you: Students to complete a teen profile. 4. Task 3: Teacher redistribute the drawings and get the students to look for the person in the picture. Students are to ask questions on their partner and get as much information as possible, specifically holiday adventures or new years resolution. 5. Task 4: Students are picked at random to come up and present their findings about their friends. 6. Homework: Write a short paragraph on the friend they interviewed on their new years resolution or their holiday adventures using the appropriate tense. Participating in a conversation explaining ones views Students are able to: 1. ask at least 3 wh-questions pertaining to New Years resolution. 2. respond politely to the questions. 3. explain their views. 1. Class Brainstorming session illicit response from students and list them on the board. 2. Pair work - Students read Dr Schwartzs New Years resolution on powerpoint and make at least 3 wh-questions. Teacher notes down some of the wh-questions on the board. 3. Class work identify grammatical errors. 4. Individual work based on students New Year resolution of excelling in the public exam, they are asked to formulate at least 3 wh-questions. 5. Pair work students practice asking and responding politely to questions on New Years resolution. Students may refer to useful expressions on the LCD screen. 6. Individual work students underline the correct tense of the verb in the task sheet and teacher checks the answer with them Homework: Using the same text given in no 6, students are asked to write out an essay entitled My Resolution for the New Year by changing Narlin to I. Students are able to a. describe the setting of the poem b. explain the theme and values of the poem c. give the literal meaning of the poem 1. Students watch a slide show on Nature. 2. Individual work - As they have learnt the poem in Form 4, they are asked to answer 4 questions flashed on the LCD projector. 3. Class work discussion of answers given. 4.
