THINKING ABOUT MY ART: A REFLECTION

Title: “Unconditional Love”

Materials/Medium: Bond paper, Acrylic paint

2.1. Creative Vision

 Explain your intentions and goals for your work or performance: What were you

trying to accomplish? Was there something in particular that inspired this project?

My art is a portrait of a woman who gave birth for I want to implicate how important our

mother is and how unending their love is. Their love cannot be compared to anything because it

is the purest form of love. My mother and grandmother are the people that inspired me to make

this art for they are the ones who dedicated their life and time for me to grew up as a wonderful

person as I am right now. I very much appreciate their sacrifices that is why I want them to feel

how important they are for me especially they are both single parents.

2. 2. Process

 How did you work on creating your project? Describe the elements & principles you

incorporated you incorporated in your work.

The picture of a woman is a simple explanation of passion and a symbol of life. The

artwork also includes a carnation flower, which is a symbol of commitment. And I draw it with

continuous lines, for it depicts how unending love is. In addition, the background is white

because I want to show that there is nothing pure in this world than of a mother’s love.

 What made you decide to work on this project? Why did you take one path rather

than another?

As I get older, I find that I’m becoming more and more concerned about the amount of

time that I spend with the people that I love especially both of them. I want to remind myself to

value the time we have for nothing in this world is permanent. I don’t want to regret not

spending enough time with the people I loved because I valued my time with myself, and other

things that won’t love me back. I say we should nourish our time with them. And always say

thank you and how you love them, for we must remember what is important.

2.3. Reflection

 Evaluate your own work. How did you use your own unique ideas in your work? Did

you use a source for inspiration, then combine it with your own ideas to make it

original?

I was inspired by a photograph I saw on Mother's Day of a mother lovingly embracing

her kid. That is why I am using it in my project to create art and add some symbolism to it. I took

what I knew about how lines represent everlasting, a carnation flower represents devotion, and

white represents purity. I created this image by combining all of these elements.

 What were some of the most interesting discoveries you made while working on this

project? About yourself? About others?

I think the most interesting discovery is that love comes in many forms. It always

encourages us in any falls which come in life. All mothers are pure by heart and want all the best

things in their child’s life. Sometimes I disregard what my mother is saying or doing where in

fact it is the best for me. We always take our mother for granted but without her our life becomes

worthless.

 What were some of your most challenging moments and what made them so?

One of the most difficult situations in life is appreciating what I already have. My

grandmother is my guardian as I grow up, while my single mother works in another country.

Because of my disposition, I feel unloved or undesired. I was yearning for love, affection, and

attention.

 What were some of your most powerful learning moments and what made them so?

As I've grown older, I've realized how difficult life is for my mother. They might not

show their weaknesses in us, but at the same time they are suffering times more than us. Since

then, I've learnt to value small things and be pleased with what I have. I should be thankful for

having someone who will guide and love me, because there are some people who do not have

that.

 What is the most important thing you learned personally?

It is seriously hard to be a single parent. Without a partner, the stakes are higher. As my

mom being one of them, she has the sole responsibility for all aspects of my life. And being a

person, she can’t handle it all that is why I felt those things I felt when I was a child. We aren’t

always aware of what our parents are struggling with, that is why we must not judge what we see

outside for they might just putting up a smile for us not to worry about them. We should not

underestimate the value and power of a mother’s love.
