Answer for question 1.

By using command prompt, we can get one’s IP address by typing ipconfig on the command
prompt. All of our network information will appear on the command prompt windows tab, but our IP
address will be display as Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4 address). We can check this on our active
Internet adapter. To get a device’s IP address, we can use many commands. For example
ipconfig, ipconfig/all, or even without using command prompt such as from control
panel or by clicking on our Internet & Network Properties on the network button on our windows
taskbar.

I. Personal Computer 1: For Personal Computer 1, the IP address can be check on the Wireless
LAN adapter Wi-Fi 2. The IP address for Personal Computer 1 is 192.168.56.1 .

II. Personal Computer 2:

I. Connectivity to 172.16.20.112: To check the connectivity from Personal Computer 1 to

172.16.20.112, I am using command ping. The purpose of using this command is because
this command can test a network connectivity and verify TCP/IP is running.

II. Connectivity from Personal Computer 1 to Personal Computer 2:

Command tracert will be used for question 3. What is the purpose of tracert?
Traceroute is a command that launches network diagnostics tools.

I. From Personal Computer 1, my group were able to trace the route taken to
www.alliancebank.com.my . As for the hops part, it takes 7 hop as we can see on the photo
shown below. From the output screen, we can see this device is tracing the route to
www.alliancebank.com.my with IP address 45.60.126.245 which takes 7 hops.

II. From Personal Computer 1, my group were able to trace the route taken to
www.manchester.ac.uk . This time, from the output given by tracert command, it shows
that this device hops 16 times, double from the last time to reach www.manchester.ac.uk
. www.manchester.ac.uk IP address is 130.88.101.57.

III. On the other hand, for tracing the route taken to www.ikea.com , the output shows seven
hops were made to reach www.ikea.com with the IP address 23.199.135.75.
