Nowadays the Russian watercolor “Nevskaya Palitra” is a well-known brand of

professional colors used by the most of the artists around the world. Usually, it is sold in a
plastic box that consists of 6,12, 24 or 36 colors premade sets. In contrast to other producers,
they are sold in full pan size which provides a good amount of paint.

From my own experience, I believe that is a great selection of professional colors ,having
a big range of cold tones as well as warm ones. While swatching , I was impressed by the
vibrancy and the richness of the pigments that have a nice glow even after drying. The paints
activate easily due to the fact that they are produced of the finely ground pigments and
binders. With this set of watercolours you can go straight into deep and dense colors as well
as work in transparent layers. The fact that surprised me in particular were the single
pigmented hues because when mixed they do not turn muddy.

On the other hand, the biggest issue is the package they are delivered in. The premade sets
have a plastic palette which is not as resistent as the metallic one and usually, is harder to
clean up. The box is not compact and as far as I know, it is uncofortable using it while
travelling, as most of artists use to. Some hues are pastel like because of the white basic
pigment they consist of , so there are a few semi opaque and granulated colors.

In summary, “Nevskaya Palitra” watercolors are a great choice for both beginners and
professional artists since it is a high quality set and it is affordable for the most of customers.
After using it more than 7 years I haven’t regretted purchasing it , so I strongly recommend
this watercolor brand to everyone.
