SOCIAL MEDIA CONTRIBUTIONS ON MY FUTURE CAREER AND IN SOCIETY

Social media is a computer-based technology that allows people to share their ideas,
opinions, and information through virtual networks and communities. Social media is an
internet-based platform that allows people to share content such as personal information,
documents, films, and images quickly and electronically. (Investopedia) As you can see social
media has many uses and it continues to improve or innovate, what more can be done in the
future? Maybe social media can help my profession or career with many other things. Just to let
you know, I dream to become a nursing as of the moment, but also dream to become a doctor in
future as my profession or career and social media have lots of possible contribution if I became
a Medical Professionals. For you to know on what are the possible contributions of social media
in my future career and to our society let me give some examples.
The combination of social media with healthcare is quite effective. Social media has
evolved into a valuable source of health and information. They can, however, be a source of
misinformation. Just an example where the combination of social media and healthcare has
proven to be effective is the surveys where 76% of respondents to a survey said they used social
media “at least a little” to learn about COVID-19. But some say it is better to get information
directly from medical professionals. My point is, if nowadays social media is often used by
medical professionals, what more in future?
Medical professionals can use social media to potentially improve health outcomes,
develop a professional network, increase personal awareness of news and discoveries, motivate
patients, and provide health information to the community. Medical professionals can use social
media to potentially improve health outcomes, develop a professional network, debate health
care policy and practice issues, promote health behaviors, engage with the public, and educate
and interact with patients, caregivers, students, and colleagues. (C. Lee Ventola)
As a physician, for sure I will frequently join online communities where I can read news
articles, listen to experts, research medical developments, consult colleagues about patient issues,
and network. With social media in a case where there are online communities, I can also share
cases and ideas, I can discuss practice management challenges, make referrals, disseminate
research, or engage in health advocacy. Aa a physician, I can also use social media to
communicate directly with my patients to augment my existing patient communication.
I believed that if I became a medical professional in the near future, I will use the social
media as a way of promoting or raising awareness in some healthcare or medical matters. The
use of social media to raise public awareness about new, developing, and annual health issues is
critical. It can be as basic as reminding followers of common-sense health measures to raise
awareness. Alternatively, addressing prevalent issues about healthy living. Increasing your
followers' awareness of reputable sources makes it easier for them to respond to incorrect
healthcare social media claims they encounter in posts from their own social connections.
Consultation of patients thru social media. Along with the continued civilization and
improvements in our society, I will use my social media to consult some patients via some social
media application, where even though I can see my patient face-to-face I’ll be able to observe
him/her and give some medical advices.
I can be a medical professional/vlogger, with that I will be able to spread true and
important information about a healthcare matters through a video that will be uploaded to social
media. People who will watch my video will in a sense find my video relevant and that’s the goal
if ever I become a medical professional/vlogger to find my videos as relevant and important to
people and to society in general.
The following information above are some possible contributions of social media to my
future career. In fact, now that I’m still and currently a student, I believed that social media also
have lots help to me when it comes to knowing what medical course would suit to me. I able to
get information in social media about how a medical student survives in medical schools, how to
pass examinations, and especially the steps to become a medical professional or how to become a
medical professional. Those are some help of social media to me, now that I’m still student. I
find social media a good thing but the fact that sometimes information in social media is fake,
it’s scary to always depend on social media because sometimes it takes us away from the truth.
