How do international organizations take on “lives of their own?”
Different international organizations are created to function within global
areas and provide development to different nation-states. However, even though they are related to different nations, they still function differently on improving the lives of people. For example, nations and states are responsible for how the government should function within a specific country to play its responsibility in improving life. On the other hand, international organizations are developed to emphasize the innate rights of different individuals across the globe. Moreover, by creating new entities of organizations, it can then function independently and cannot be fully controlled by other states since it has a life of its own. That is why we can say that these international organizations can function their role in the lives of the people differently and independently. Generally, the cause of existence of international organizations are not from the interests of different states and it can even function independently. They did not exist just to follow the standards that are given by the developed states. That is why these different international organizations can take lives of their own because some are a group that is not based on how the different states would make them want to function. For example, we can take a look at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) function on providing sustainable growth that has developed standards on the economic lives of the people. It has promoted how individuals should make decisions or face in times of scarcity. Moreover, international organizations are powerful enough to inflict influence on developing global standards within the different countries. For instance, the United Nations has the power to apply categories and classifications of economic lives that makes nations follow to ensure development. Generally, the international organizations can take lives of their own because they function on emphasizing the quality of lives of individuals, can develop global standards and make the governments follow it. However, we cannot still deny that some of these international organizations and their function are controlled by more developed nation-states.
