I. Read the passage.
People dream in colour, but many don’t remember the colour. Certain people can control some of their
dreams. They make sure they have a happy ending. Some people get relief from bad dreams by writing them
down and the changing the negative stories or thoughts into positive ones on the written paper. Then they study
the paper before they go to sleep again.
Many people talk in their sleep, but it is usually just confused half sentences. They might feel
embarrassed when someone tells them they were talking in their sleep, but probably didn’t tell any secrets.
Sleepwalking is most common among children. They usually grow out of it by the time they become
adolescents. Children don’t remember that they were talking in their sleep, and they don’t usually wake up if the
parents leads them back to back.
There are lots of jokes about snoring, but it isn’t really funny. People snore because they have trouble
breathing while they are asleep. Some snorers have a condition called sleep apnea. They stop breathing up to
thirty or forty times an hour because the throat muscles relax too much and the airway.

Advertising is a very big business, and its whole purpose is to control your thinking. If you want to
live without being controlled by advertising, you should know what kinds of advertisements you see every day.
Some advertisements simply tell you the facts about their products and trust you to choose wisely.
Advertisements new inventions might use this style. For example, when personal computers were invented,
people had to be told about their advantages. Advertisements for most kind of products don’t simply tell you
facts. Instead, they try to reach your emotions – your hopes and dreams. In other words, they try to create an
image for you. Different images, such as a happy family, an exciting romance or a strong or beautiful body, are
aimed at different age groups. Advertisement for computers show successful people.
The image is often more important than any facts about the products. The makers of sweet soft drinks
