What do you think is most important to a lasting friendship?

The other party can help; they have the

same interests and worldviews about what matters; they trust each other.

Friendship is a unique bond. There’s nothing equivalent to having a true friend. Everyone has a
different path and many a times those paths don’t converge. Hence, it can be difficult to last a
friendship.

Firstly, to last a friendship, the two parties must trust each other. No bond between two people can
be formed without trust.

Moreover, common interests definitely help in lasting a friendship. The common interest can be a
hobby , food preference, fashion sense or any other common link between the two. Common
interests help in better conversations. According to a research published in the New York Times,
people feel more comfortable around people with similar interests and taste. The partys are able to
spend more time with each others if they have similarities. For example, the partys can workout
together if they are both into fitness.

Friendship like any other relationship needs to have efforts from both the partys. If anyone one side
does not put in effort to make the friendship successful and a long lasting one, it will collapse. One
needs to compromise with other person to keep them in their lives. If one party is rigid with their
choice sand does not agree to compromise with the other person, soon the other party will get
frustated and break the friendship. For example, you like Chinese food and your friend doesn’t. If you
still insist on going to a Chinese restaurant, the friend will think that you don’t respect his choices.
