MODULE 2 ASSIGNMENT #2

TAMAYO, Julia Francine P. ECED 14-18

3 CED PSE

Differentiate the two important but different research strategies mentioned in

Module 2. Give an example for each.

Cross-sectional design
- A cross-sectional study design has the advantage of enabling researchers
to compare numerous factors at once. For instance, we may examine the
relationship between walking and cholesterol levels while paying little or no
additional money for age, gender, income, and educational level. For
population-based surveys and to determine the prevalence of illnesses in
clinic-based samples, cross-sectional designs are employed. These
examinations are typically affordable and relatively quick to do. They could
be carried out either as a planning step for a cohort study or as a baseline
for one.

Longitudinal design
- Researchers can investigate dynamic ideas as opposed to static ones
thanks to longitudinal data. Understanding how people transition from one
situation to another depends on this (for example, through work, poverty,
parenthood, ill health and so on). the relationship between earlier life
events and subsequent results. Researchers are also able to spot
developments or changes in the target population's traits, both collectively
and individually. The crucial point is that longitudinal studies cover a longer
period of time than a single instant.
