Ice application for the first 72 hours

Steain damafe to tendon

Sprain ligaments
Open- with blood

Closed- no blood leaking


Elevate the affected area from the heart

Notify the physician

Remove the cast/ tight dressing emmidiately

TO AVOID PRESSURE TURN PT IN THE UNOPERATIVE SITE

TURN PT EVERY 2 HRS

ASSIST PT GETTING IN AND OUT OF BED


CAST SHOULD NOT BE COVERED BY A TOWEL BECAUSE THE RETAINED HEAT WILL BURN THE CLIENT

ASSESS FOR NUMBNESS, INABILITY TO MOVE THE BPART, ABSENCE OF PULSE, CHANGE IN SKIN COLOR

-WINDOWING TO ASSESS THE PULSE, REMOVAL OF THE PART OF THE CAST

-VIVAL

PETALLING – APPLYING ADHESIVE TAPE ON EDGES OF THE CAST TO MAINTAIN SKIN INTEGRITY
TO IMMOBILIZE BODY PART
